LAMIA Bolivia RJ85 cerca de Medellín el 28 de Noviembre de 2016, problemas eléctricos, impacto con terreno

Un Avro RJ-85 de la compañía LAMIA Bolivia, registro CP-2933 realizando el vuelo LMI-2933 de Santa Cruz (Bolivia) a Medellín (Colombia) con 72 pasajeros y 9 tripulantes, descendía hacia Medellín a unos 15-20nm al sureste de Medellín en el área de La Ceja (Colombia) a las 21: 56L (02: 56Z 29 de noviembre) cuando la aeronave desapareció de las pantallas de radar. El Aeropuerto de Medellín informó que se inició una búsqueda y que el sitio del accidente se localizó en el municipio de La Ceja en las laderas del Cerro Gordo (coordenadas aproximadas N5.9805 W75.4183), puede haber supervivientes. Las autoridades confirmaron 5 supervivientes (3 jugadores, una azafata y un periodista) y 76 fallecidos declarando que uno de los 6 supervivientes murieron en la atención hospitalaria.

En un comunicado de prensa el Aeropuerto de Medellín informó además que la aeronave había declarado emergencia con la Torre de Control de Medellín a las 22:00 horas reportando problemas eléctricos.

La Fuerza Aérea de Colombia ha desplegado fuerzas de búsqueda y rescate, el sitio del accidente localizado entre La Ceja y Medellín solo es accesible por tierra, los helicópteros no pueden operar debido a la baja visibilidad debido a la niebla. La Policía Nacional informa a 6 supervivientes.

Los servicios de emergencia informaron que el avión no se incendió aumentando las posibilidades de sobrevivientes. Puede haber hasta 10 supervivientes. Dos jugadores ya están en la atención hospitalaria en La Ceja.

Las autoridades colombianas informaron que la búsqueda y rescate fueron suspendidos durante la noche, hasta el momento se han recuperado 5 supervivientes y 25 muertes. Uno de los 6 sobrevivientes iniciales murió en el hospital. No se han localizado más sobrevivientes, 76 ocupantes perdieron la vida en el accidente.

La Autoridad de Aviación Civil de Colombia confirmó que el vuelo LMI-2933 proveniente de Bolivia se estrelló en el municipio de El Ceja. El personal de CAA, incluido el director de la CAA, ha sido enviado al aeropuerto de Río Negro de Medellín y ha establecido un puesto de mando para abordar la situación. La aeronave había solicitado un aterrizaje prioritario, y posteriormente se perdió el contacto con la aeronave.

Los últimos datos del transpondedor fueron recibidos de la aeronave a las 02:52 como el avión descendió a través de FL155 unos 11nm al sureste del aeropuerto de Río Negro de Medellín.

El avión llevaba al equipo brasileño de fútbol de Chapecoense para jugar la final de la Copa Sudamericana 2016 en Medellín. Las finales fueron suspendidas indefinidamente como resultado del choque.

El aeropuerto de Rionegro está a una altitud de 2141 metros. El VOR Río Negro RNG está ubicado en la cima del Cerro Gordo a una altitud de 2642 metros.

A LAMIA Bolivia Avro RJ-85, registration CP-2933 performing flight LMI-2933 from Santa Cruz (Bolivia) to Medellin (Colombia) with 72 passengers and 9 crew, was descending towards Medellin about 15-20nm southeast of Medellin in the area of La Ceja (Colombia) at 21:56L (02:56Z Nov 29th) when the aircraft disappeared from radar screens. The Airport of Medellin reported a search was initiated and the crash site has been located in the municipality of La Ceja at the slopes of Cerro Gordo (approximate coordinates N5.9805 W75.4183), there may be survivors. Authorities confirmed 5 survivors (3 players, a flight attendant and a journalist) and 76 fatalities stating one of initially 6 survivors died in hospital care.

In a press release the Airport of Medellin reported further, that the aircraft had declared emergency with Medellin’s Control Tower at 22:00L reporting electrical problems.

Colombia’s Air Force have deployed search and rescue forces, the crash site located between La Ceja and Medellin is only accessible by land, helicopters can not operate due to low visibility due to fog. National Police reports 6 survivors.

Emergency services reported the aircraft did not catch fire increasing the chances of survivors. There may be up to 10 survivors.Two players are already in hospital care in La Ceja.

Colombian Authorities reported the search and rescue was suspended over night, 5 survivors and 25 fatalities have been recovered so far. One of the initial 6 survivors died in hospital. No further survivors have been located, 76 occupants lost their lives in the crash.

Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority confirmed flight LMI-2933 arriving from Bolivia crashed in the municipality of El Ceja. CAA staff including the director of the CAA have been dispatched to Medellin’s Rio Negro Airport and have established a command post to address the situation. The aircraft had requested a priority landing, subsequently contact with the aircraft was lost.

The last transponder data were received from the aircraft at 02:56Z as the aircraft descended through FL155 about 11nm southsoutheast of Medellin’s Rio Negro Airport.

The aircraft was carrying the Brazilian soccer team of Chapecoense to play the finals of Copa Sudamericana 2016 in Medellin. The finals were suspended indefinitely as result of the crash.

Rionegro Airport is at an elevation of 2141 meters/7025 feet. The VOR Rio Negro RNG is located on top of Cerro Gordo at an elevation of 2642 meters/8669 feet. A\W
