La aerolínea Southwest Airlines dio a conocer que buscará incrementar su capacidad de servicio un 3.5%, a través de la apertura de 22 nuevas rutas y la llegada de más aeronaves a su flota.

De las 22 rutas, cuatro serán internacionales y se incluyen algunas que serán operadas de forma estacional.

Por otro lado, hasta noviembre del año pasado, la aerolínea recibió 131 de 155 Boeing 737-800 que había solicitado, y estima que el resto sean entregados el próximo mes de julio.

Para las mismas fechas se prevé que la aerolínea encabezará el vuelo debut del Boeing 737 MAX, pues Southwest es el cliente de lanzamiento del fabricante.

También comenzará a operar un servicio diario a Grand Cayman e iniciará nuevas rutas hacia Montego Bay (Jamaica), Belice y Cancún.

Las nuevas rutas están pendientes de aprobación gubernamental y sumarán ocho en total a nivel internacional, las cuales Southwest operará desde Fort Lauderdale, junto con Nassau, Bahamas y ciudades cubanas como La Habana, Varadero y Santa Clara.

Southwest Airlines announced that it will seek to increase its service capacity by 3.5%, through the opening of 22 new routes and the arrival of more aircraft to its fleet.

Of the 22 routes, four will be international and include some that will be operated on a seasonal basis.

On the other hand, until November last year, the airline received 131 of 155 Boeing 737-800 it had requested, and estimates that the rest will be delivered next July.

For the same dates, the airline is expected to lead the debut flight of the Boeing 737 MAX, as Southwest is the launch customer of the manufacturer.

It will also begin operating a daily service to Grand Cayman and will start new routes to Montego Bay (Jamaica), Belize and Cancun.

The new routes are pending government approval and will total eight internationally, which Southwest will operate from Fort Lauderdale along with Nassau, Bahamas and Cuban cities such as Havana, Varadero and Santa Clara. A\W
