Airlink se convierte en el primer cliente del E-Jet en Sudáfrica

Airlink, la mayor aerolínea regional independiente en Sudáfrica, se convirtió en el primer cliente de la línea E-Jet en Sudáfrica después de la adquisición de tres Embraer 170 y dos Embraer 190 en régimen de leasing con ECC Leasing, una subsidiaria del fabricante brasileño.

El CEO de Airlink, Rodger Foster, comentó: «Este es el comienzo de una estrategia bien planificada de crecimiento y modernización de Airlink, que incluye la sustitución de la flota actual de Avros RJ85 en los próximos tres años. La estrategia requiere un total de trece E-Jets y estamos y estamos buscando ocho aeronaves E190 adicionales”.

Foster también destacó la capacidad de operaciones ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operations) y el alcance del E190, que permitirá Airlink explorar nuevos mercados en la región.

«Las capacidades operacionales del E190 proporcionan a Airlink nuevas oportunidades de mercado. Embraer ha demostrado ser un excelente socio para Airlink en nuestra flota de ERJ y esperamos continuar con la excelente atención al cliente, al entrar en una nueva etapa de crecimiento con los E-Jets”.

La aerolínea es un cliente importante de Embraer en África. En diciembre, inició un proceso de expansión de su flota, añadindo once Embraer ERJ 140. A finales de 2017, la empresa estará operando un total de treinta ERJs, incluyendo los tres modelos de familia – ERJ 135, ERJ 140 y ERJ 145.

Embraer está presente en África desde 1978, cuando el primer turbohélice E110 Bandeirantes entró en operación. Actualmente, 127 aviones Embraer están en servicio con 39 aerolíneas en 19 países de África.

Airlink, the largest independent regional airline in South Africa, became the first customer of the E-Jet line in South Africa after the acquisition of three Embraer 170s and two Embraer 190s leased with ECC Leasing, a subsidiary of the Brazilian manufacturer.

Airlink CEO Rodger Foster commented: «This is the beginning of a well-planned Airlink growth and modernization strategy, which includes replacing the existing Avros RJ85 fleet over the next three years. The strategy requires a total of thirteen E-Jets and we are and are looking for eight additional E190 aircraft. «

Foster also highlighted ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operations) capability and E190 reach, which will allow Airlink to explore new markets in the region.

The airline is a major Embraer customer in Africa. In December, it started a process of expansion of its fleet, adding eleven Embraer ERJ 140s. By the end of 2017, the company will be operating a total of thirty ERJs, including the three family models – ERJ 135, ERJ 140 and ERJ 145.
