Boeing pierde a Flyadeal

Saudi low-cost airline Flyadeal acquires commitment for 50 A320NEO

Flyadeal, the low-cost airline of Saudi Arabia, has ordered 50 airplanes from the Airbus A320NEO family, having suspended its previous agreement with The Boeing Company for purchase intentions on the 737 MAX line.

Flyadeal had selected the Boeing 737 MAX for its fleet expansion program, and chose to take 30 737-8 MAX and place options on another 20 units. But the order had not been finalized before the global grounding of the 737 MAX line in March 2019. Flyadeal stated, a few days after the grounding, that it would refrain from committing to 737 MAX while the accident investigations. But while the investigations have yet to reach final conclusions, Flyadeal has revealed that it had booted Boeing’s orders in favor of 30 Airbus A320NEO and took options in 20 other aircraft, the same units that had emcomended the American manufacturer.

Flyadeal changes to NEO

Deliveries of the first A320NEO aircraft will begin in 2021, the airline reported, selecting CFM International Leap-1A engines for its fleet. Flyadeal does not expressly mention the replacement of the 737 MAX fleet by A320NEO but states that: «This order will result in Flyadeal operating a fleet of all Airbus A320s in the future, placing the A320NEO order in response to the continued growth in demand. of passengers on national, regional and international routes».

The Saudi low-cost airline had revealed during the air show at Paris Air Show 2019 that it was acquiring up to 100 aircraft of the A320NEO family. These comprised 35 previously revealed aircraft, from an order made three years ago, supplemented by a new order of 30 and options in another 35. «The assignment of the new aircraft to Flyadeal is derived from the agreement at the Paris Air Show with Flyadeal», says the Saudi airline.

Boeing loses Flyadeal

Boeing said that Flyadeal had decided not to proceed with the provisional order due to the programming requirements. The agreement, which included 30 Boeing 737 MAX units, plus an additional option to buy 20 units, had a value of US$ 5.900 million at list prices, but the airline would have been offered a discount on that price.

Flyadeal, controlled by the state airline Saudi Arabian Airlines, has changed the orders of the American manufacturer for those of the European consortium, going on to operate in the future a fleet of narrowbodies aircraft Airbus A320NEO. A \ W

Connect Airways adquiere Flybe

European Commission approves acquisition of Flybe by Connect Airways

The European Commission (EC) has given its approval to the purchase of FlyBe by Connect Airways, a consortium consisting of Virgin Atlantic Airways, Stobart Group and Cyrus Capital.

Connect Airways has received approval from the European Commission (EC) to acquire the UK regional airline Flybe and Irish Stobart Air. This means that the British Limited Company can now continue with its acquisition plans for Flybe, which were first reported in January of this year. The purchase means that the Flybe brand will disappear from all the planes that will become the new image of Virgin, although they will compete in the regional segment.

Resultado de imagen para Flybe new look pngConnect Airways is a consortium, in which it is often cited that Virgin Atlantic owns 30%, Stobart Air 30% and hedge fund manager Cyrus Capital Partners 40%, through its Luxembourg subsidiary DLP Holdings. Former Virgin Atlantic Airways Vice President Mark Anderson is becoming CEO of Connect Airways.

The airlines said that this agreement, in which Connect Airways pays only 2.8 million pounds sterling in full cash to the shareholders of Flybe, ensures the long-term future of the regional airline. Flybe, together with the sister company Stobart Air, will soon join the Virgin brand. However, the details of this brand change have not yet been announced. Both airlines will maintain their individual Air Operator Certificates.

Virgin Atlantic CEO Shai Weiss said his airline, which currently only offers long-haul flights, will benefit from the existing regional network provided by Connect Airways and Flybe.

The approval by the European Commission grants to the operation of the rights of slots of FlyBe that operated in the Airport Heathrow, will pass to Virgin, because it is much more profitable to operate a large plane, for a transoceanic destination than to do it for a local flight . The decision of the EC has come with some observations, given that the purchase would mean that there would be almost a monopoly situation between the routes Birmingham-Amsterdam and Birmingham-Paris, so the airline would have to give five slots in Amsterdam and three in Paris.

Flybe, based in Exeter, is the largest regional airline in Europe and operates a fleet of more than 70 aircraft, including De Havilland Canada Dash 8-Q400 and Embraer E-Jets on short-haul commercial and leisure routes throughout the world. continent. In November of last year, the airline confirmed that it is facing profit problems and was looking for a possible buyer after an increase in fuel costs, a slowdown in demand and a difficult economic situation caused by the Brexit. A week later, it was reported that Virgin Atlantic, a British long distance company, is interested in acquiring Flybe. Both airlines were already partnering to have codeshare agreements for selected flights. A \ W

Sky Airline y JetSmart Airlines anuncian vuelos a Puerto Natales

Sky Airline and JetSmart Airlines announce flights to Puerto Natales

On Friday 5 July 2019, new frequencies were announced that will be added to the flights of the Puerto Natales Airport, Republic of Chile, after a long process of joint work between the Undersecretaries of Public Works and Tourism of Chile, in order to continue strengthening the terminals airport airports along with the Airport Modernization Plan recently announced by President Sebastián Piñera.

In a meeting led by government authorities and the Sky Airline and JetSmart Airlines airlines announced that they will join Puerto Natales within their destinations. This will extend the frequencies of two flights a week that there are currently to 6 flights in low season, and up to 10 flights in high season, also considering that Latam Airlines will increase its itinerary from 3 to 4 weekly flights. In this way, it seeks to enhance the economic and tourist development of the city, which is expected to receive more than 15 thousand new tourists from the month of November 2019, when they will begin to operate the new flights of these two airlines. Also, the strengthening of this airport enclosure seeks to encourage the private sector to continue investing in Puerto Natales.

The mayor of Puerto Natales, Fernando Paredes, valued the greater connectivity that these flights will give to the city: «The great news for the community is that we will have a minimum of 6 and maybe 10 weekly flights that unite us from Puerto Natales on a direct flight to Santiago and that breaks the feeling of isolation of the community, but also on the other hand serves as a lever of development for an activity as important as tourism», he said. Paro afecta 5.000 pasajeros en Argentina

IMG_1364.JPGAW | 2019 07 06 11:03 | AIR TRAFFIC / GOVERNMENT

Delays continue in Aeroparque, normalized in Ezeiza

The force measurement is decompressed at the Ezeiza Airport, but at the Aeroparque the reprogramming continues due to the delays caused by the aeronautical strike. At the beginning of the long weekend, more than 5,000 passengers were injured yesterday by a surprise stoppage of the Association of Airline Pilots (APLA) and the Argentine Aeronavegantes Association (AAA), which forced the suspension or rescheduling of more than 50 passengers. flights. The measure that took place in a long assembly that lasted almost all morning from 05:00 hours on Friday, July 5, 2019 provoked strong protests and nervousness among the passengers. The pilots justified their decision in which all the national state or private companies have their balance sheets in red. The main companies affected by the measure of force in the Argentine Republic were Aerolíneas Argentinas, Latam Argentina Airlines and Andes Líneas Aéreas.

«The pilots who lose our labor source do not have reinsertion in the country. The aero-commercial system is unsustainable under these circumstances», the unions said. Only Aerolíneas Argentinas reprogrammed 40 flights, while Latam Airlines recommended its passengers to check the status of flights on its website latam.com.

Policy vs users

Passengers to the screams, others who lost reservations and suffered a severe economic damage and all kinds of difficulties, was the scenario that becomes common in the middle of the tug of war of the aeronautical unions aligned to the political current of Kirchnerism against the current Government, a little more than a month from the primaries.

The main companies affected by the measure were Aerolíneas Argentinas, Latam Airlines and Andes Líneas Aéreas. Everything just before the extra long weekend, while the pilots warned that the measure could be repeated during the weekend.

At 6 o’clock, in Ezeiza, the passengers were embarking when they were surprised by the force measurement. Dozens were rescheduled to leave today Saturday at 08:00 hs, as long as the measure of strength is not repeated, which generated a strong reaction from the Government, which linked the unions that made the measure of strength with Kirchnerism. The claim also generated a long line of about 200 meters in the sales sector for some passengers to change the tickets. The passengers also complained that during more than two hours of waiting in Ezeiza they had to wait sitting on the floor or in their suitcases, thinking that it would be something momentary and they could travel shortly. Those who must fly this weekend should be attentive to the attitude of the guilds, because the protests could be repeated, they warned.

Government vs. aeronautical unionists

The Minister of Transportation of the Nation, Guillermo Dietrich, harshly questioned the aeronautical unionists who carried out measures of force yesterday Friday morning against the air policy of the National Government. «We told Minister Dietrich that his airline policy was going to fail. He failed and left many colleagues dismissed in all sectors and negatively impacts those who remain standing», warned Pablo Biró, head of the Association of Airline Pilots (APLA), one of the five unions that organized surprise assemblies.

Edgardo Llano, Chief of the Aeronautical Personnel Association (APA), agreed with Biró. «The revolution of the planes ended up being the return of the planes. A total failure on the part of the minister. Companies closed, job losses, an unfortunate situation», said the unionist. From the Argentine Association of Aeronavegantes, which leads Juan Pablo Brey, also warned by the recent aeronautical agreement signed with the government of the United States. «What it does is to deepen a crisis that we have been denouncing since the beginning of Mauricio Macri’s administration. A management that never prioritized the development of the aviation sector and much less the proper functioning of a flag carrier», argued Alejandro Kogan, deputy secretary of the air passengers.

In the midst of the protests that affected 10,000 passengers, the Minister of Transport responded harshly to the guilds, particularly to Biró. «He is a Kirchner leader who seeks to complicate the lives of thousands of passengers. He says falsehoods, he does politics in an authoritarian way», the minister said.

Voices from Aerolíneas

The CEO of Aerolíneas Argentinas, Luis Malvido, did not hesitate to link the strike to a political protest: «They use this company as a political scenario for their campaign. It is no coincidence that they do this damage today, which is a spectacular day of sales and management. It is a political strike, you just have to see the pictures that are taken (the gremialistas) with the opposition. It is proselytizing that affects our passengers», he said.

Aeroparque / Ezeiza

Today, Saturday, July 6, 2019, delays continue at the Jorge Newbery airport due to the strike. Aeroparque flights that had departure time during the night of Friday are still delayed or were rescheduled for Saturday. After several hours of delays and cancellations, the flights at Ezeiza Airport began to develop normally even though

On the website of Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 (AA2000) it is shown that the flights departing this morning from Ezeiza are scheduled. In Aeroparque the situation is different: both arrivals and departures were delayed this Friday, while those that were rescheduled for the early hours of Saturday do appear on time.

The surprising measure of strength of APLA generated problems in 34 games and caused a real chaos that affected 5,000 passengers. To this uncompromising measure of APLA was added another of the Argentine Association of Air Navigators (AAA), commanded by Juan Pablo Brey, who held an informative assembly.

Many of the affected tourist destinations corresponded to provinces where next Monday 8 July 2018 winter holidays begin: Chubut, Córdoba, Entre Ríos, La Rioja, Mendoza, Misiones, Neuquén, San Juan, Santa Fe and Tucumán.

In the case of Aerolíneas Argentinas, the number of affected will depend on the time the assemblies end. The flag company had to reprogram 40 flights on Friday in a day in which they expected to move more than 42 thousand people. With the passing of the hours, it was confirmed that 37 flights were canceled by Aerolíneas. They affected 5,000 passengers, who were relocated. On the other hand, another 55 flights suffered delays, for which 6,500 were harmed. From Latam, passengers are recommended to check the status of the flight through the website latam.com or the Latam Airlines Apps, especially those that have connections with other airlines. In Terminal C of the Ezeiza International Airport, a long queue of indignant passengers formed, claiming to be affected by changes in the flight schedule. A \ W

The autopilot system of the Boeing 737 MAX could not be disconnected in certain emergencies562.jpg

Aviation regulator of Europe, the European Union Air Safety Agency (EASA) has described the five main requirements that you want Boeing to address before allowing the Boeing 737 MAX to return to commercial service. The Air Safety Agency of the European Union has sent its list to both the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) of the United States and Boeing. The FAA has not publicly discussed the details of the changes it requires to the 737 MAX, so it is difficult to know if EASA’s demands differ dramatically, and if they will significantly increase the cost and time for 737 MAX to be back in the air.

Regulators from around the world put Boeing’s best-selling aircraft on the ground in March 2019, after two accidents in five months, when a total of 346 people died. The issues raised by EASA are consistent with the FAA’s own questions, said a person familiar with the work of the US agency that was not authorized to speak on the matter. In a statement, the FAA refused to confirm the specific issues raised by EASA, but said: «The FAA continues to work closely with other civil aviation validation authorities in our review of the Boeing certification documentation for the 737 MAX. This process involves regular communications between all parties». Asked about the potential impact of EASA’s concerns, Boeing issued a statement saying that company officials continue to «engage with regulators and provide information as we work for a safe return to service for MAX».

AW-70297667.png

Worries of the 737 MAX

The EASA checklist includes a number of problems that have been revealed: the potential difficulty for pilots to turn the manual adjustment wheel of the Boeing 737 MAX, the unreliability of the aircraft’s angle of attack sensors, inadequate training and a software problem signaled last week by the FAA belonging to a lagging microprocessor. But the agency also listed a previously uninformed concern: the autopilot does not shut down in certain emergencies. «Any of these could significantly affect the return to service, but we do not know if they will really become requirements or are just discussion items», said John Cox, a former pilot of line 737 who is president of a systems consulting firm. security operatives. John Cox said such questions among regulators are the norm during aircraft certification work and may not pose new risks to Boeing. The only problem that Cox said he had not heard before was about the autopilot. Having to alter such a complex system as the 737’s autopilot could have important ramifications, he said. However, he said he is not aware of any underlying security problems with the autopilot that justifies such action.

The European regulator EASA has discovered that the autopilot is not always deactivated correctly, which could mean that the pilots would not have time to intervene before the plane starts to stop.

The EASA list excludes several other minor problems that the agency has not marked as critical. The agency’s findings follow its comprehensive and independent review of the 737 family’s complete flight control system that focused on the differences between the MAX variant and the previous Next Generation model. EASA opted to carry out its own evaluation of the aircraft.

AW-70032300.png

The review has become a critical focal point for the industry in assessing when the plane can fly again, and regulators around the world are expected to rely on EASA’s findings. The FAA faces multiple investigations into its handling of the original 737 MAX certification and the so-called Maneuver Characteristics Increase System that has been linked to both crashes.

The Reprogramming System of the 737 is linked to locks. A software update will prevent a single sensor from activating the Maneuver Characteristics Increase System (MCAS). The data of both sensors will be considered. It is not clear how difficult it will be for Boeing to address the problems described above. People familiar with the issue reported last week that the latest software problem could take up to three months to resolve. The FAA has also previously denied that the adjustment wheel, which is used to raise or lower the nose of an aircraft during an emergency, could cause delays.

Potentially more complex will be to address the sensors of the Attack Angles (AOA), on which the MCAS is based. At the time of the collapse of a Boeing 737-8 MAX in Ethiopia in March 2019, the Boeing system was using only one of the two sensors installed on the aircraft. EASA Director Patrick Ky said in an interview last month that the upgrade of additional hardware was not off the table, a measure that could be costly and time consuming for the manufacturer. EASA, in its recommendations, did not tell Boeing how to address the problems, but instead asked the company to propose solutions that will be evaluated later, the person said. For example, if Boeing can prove the effectiveness of a new training procedure that does not include the most burdensome requirement for simulator training, it could avoid that additional expense.

Re-launch coordination

In the meantime, both the FAA and EASA, together with Canada and Brazil, have joined in a tentative agreement for the return to service to be closely coordinated in an effort to help restore public confidence in the global aviation security system , people familiar with the issue have said, although they warned that EASA can still make additional requests and fall behind the FAA.

The acting administrator of the FAA, Daniel Elwell, has said that the grounded airplane will not be put back into service until the agency can be sure that it is safe and that the pilots are adequately trained to handle any emergency. Boeing has been telling customers and others in the industry that it expects the plane to return to service in September 2019. That schedule includes correcting the software involved in the two locks, as well as the latest fault identified with the microprocessor, said a person familiar with the company’s guide. surinamairways_s[1].jpgSurinam Airways suspende incorporación de Boeing 777

Surinam Airways has a single aircraft for transatlantic flights using the Airbus A340-300 that it uses for its long-haul flights, between Paramaribo and Amsterdam. The plane is more than 20 years old and previously flew to China Southwest Airlines, Garuda Indonesia and Air China. From 2004 to 2010, Surinam Airways had a Boeing 747-300 that it used for transatlantic flights, but since its deprogramming, the airline has only been flying on the A340 since 2015.

Surinam Airways has plans to upgrade its large-scale fleet of action. The airline had signed a lease for a Boeing 777-200ER that was flying for Singapore Airlines, with delivery of the aircraft in October 2019. This aircraft would replace the A340.

The Director of Surinam Airways, Gerard Lau, has been suspended by the Supervisory Board of the state company. He was told that his contract will expire next week, barely a year after he was appointed to the position. Apparently, he had signed an agreement to acquire the Boeing 777 without fully consulting the supervisory board. Apparently, the supervisory board prefers a Boeing 787, a more modern aircraft with better performance for the route. A \ W

Caribbean Airlines estrenará nueva ruta Kingston-La Habana

Caribbean Airlines will launch new route Kingston-Havana

Caribbean Airlines will start direct flights between Kingston and Havana, Cuba in a few months. The airline is waiting for the necessary approval of the various civil aviation authorities that will participate to disclose all the details. According to Garvin Madera, CEO of Caribbean Airlines, the new route is an effort to expand the center of Kingston, which they announced in April 2019, with two direct flights to Barbados Island.

The CEO of Caribbean Airlines, who was at the official opening of a Caribbean Airlines mural at the Norman Manley International Airport on Monday, said: «Today I am pleased to announce that soon, subject to the approval of the relevant civil aviation authorities, Caribbean Airlines will begin its non-stop service between Kingston and Havana, Cuba using our Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The mission of Caribbean Airlines is to provide an incomparable network that connects the entire region, promotes commerce, culture, tourism and strengthens our Caribbean identity, it’s really an exciting time for Caribbean Airlines».

Job Nelson, Madera said the decision is derived from a strategic plan of the company, which shows that the entity is growing in intra-Caribbean traffic while striving to provide better connectivity throughout the region. The success of recent flights from Guyana and Trinidad and Tobago as other reasons for the decision of the direct flight from Kingston to Havana, as it tries to connect the different countries of the region. «Cuba is the beginning of that, based on the current configuration and the plane we have, in a few months, we will go beyond that by expanding the fleet, it is the beginning of an important expansion impulse in the Caribbean that we want. We believe that we can create an adequate triangle now, between Jamaica, Trinidad and Cuba, and in fact we have flights that leave Cuba four days a week, with the introduction of this service, unlike the previous two days».
