Asamblea en Aeroparque

AW | 2018 11 02 20:13 | AIR TRAFFIC

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Assembly in Aeroparque

The Union Assembly in Aeroparque got up and the airlines try to reprogram flights

The head of the National Administration of Civil Aviation of Argentina (ANAC), Tomás Insausti, confirmed that the assemblies of the Association of Aeronavegantes of Argentina (AAA) in the Aeroparque Jorge Newbery were lifted and the service was restored. The owner of the ANAC Argentina has announced that there have been a total of 31 canceled flights and 5 thousand passengers affected by the union measure, initiated today by the Argentine Aircraft Association, starting at 05:00 in the morning, extending until the 10:30 a.m.

The assembly was an undercover strike because it was without notice, without formal union communication, so many passengers were affected by being unprepared for the union measure. The most affected companies were Andes Líneas Aéreas, Aerolíneas Argentinas and Latam Airlines. The reprogramming of the flights will take all day to relocate the 5,000 passengers affected.

Gremial Claim

The guild of AAA, through a press release expressed that the measure of force was in demand for the «downsizing, dismissals and union persecution» in the sector. In a timely manner, their complaints were addressed to the company Flybondi Líneas Aéreas, where a worker was fired, as reported by the trade unionists: «Because of the airline’s anti-union policy».

They also denounced the massive dismissals, fruit of the cut applied in the airline Andes Líneas Aéreas, and the shrinkage in Latam Airlines Argentina, as well as «the salary delay that the workers of the airline bring because they did not have a trigger clause».

Finally, the trade unionists denounced the breach of the joint agreement by the airline Austral Líneas Aéreas, from which they would have «reinterpreted the trigger clause» and would not continue paying the inflationary adjustment pending since 2017.

The Asociación Argentina de Aeronavegantes (AAA), led by Juan Pablo Brey, initiated surprise assemblies with cessation of activities during the morning to express a series of complaints to the Government and to the companies. «The measure is in rejection of the reduction, dismissals and union persecution that crosses the aeronautical sector», said the general secretary of the union. Airbus reporta ganancias en 3Q2018

AW | 2018 10 31 22:10 | INDUSTRY

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Airbus reports earnings in 3Q2018

Airbus reports quarterly earnings of € 957 million

The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus announced this Wednesday, October 31, 2018 a benefit more than three times higher than the same period last year, in a complicated context, according to the company. The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus announced on Wednesday a profit of € 957 million in the third quarter of 2018, a result more than three times higher than the same period last year, in a complicated context, according to the company. The company also maintained its goal of 800 deliveries of commercial aircraft in 2018, but warned that it still had much to do to achieve it.

In the first nine months of 2018, the group’s net profit reached 1,453 million euros, an increase of 4% compared to 2017. These data «reflect the good results of the A350 and the profile of aircraft deliveries. more aircraft than last year at this point, we still have much to do to achieve our objectives of 800 aircraft delivered in 2018», said Tom Enders, the group’s head quoted in the statement.

Airbus + A220

Airbus has an aircraft that it acquired in July to reinforce deliveries. The company maintained the goal it set at the beginning of the year, but only after adding 18 Airbus A220 aircraft, the model it acquired under a Joint Venture from Bombardier Inc. The change, announced with the results of the third quarter, highlights the difficulties of production that faced Airbus throughout the year, beginning with a stoppage of the production of its best-selling aircraft, the A320NEO narrow-body, which was caused by problems related to the engines.

Airbus hides the production deficit with the help of Bombardier. That goal now includes deliveries of 18 A220, the latest Airbus monoblock model. According to Enders, the «main operational priorities continue to be the deliveries of commercial aircraft and the continuation of the production increase of the A320NEO», the version of the A320 that includes more efficient engines.

Airbus slows deliveries

Now, production has been affected by problems with interiors, among others, so fewer units will be delivered. Airbus also confirmed on Wednesday that it indicated that supplier delays Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc. will reduce deliveries of its A330-800/900NEO wide-body aircraft. Rolls-Royce reported last week that it is facing production difficulties in the Trent 7000 turbines used in the A330NEO, a redesigned version of its A330 wide-body aircraft. The supplier had promised to deliver 30 engines by the end of October, so that Airbus could deliver 15 aircraft to its customers by the end of the year, but in a memorandum to the staff, the British engineering firm said production was far from reaching goal. «We have reduced the plan for the A330NEO in an important way», Airbus CFO Harald Wilhelm said in a conference call.

The production increase of the Airbus A320 is underway, previous interruptions, as well as some internal difficulties of the industry, make the goal for the whole year 2018 is at a greater distance. «There is still a lot to do before the end of the year to fulfill the commitments», Airbus said in a statement. The introduction of automation equipment in their factories has not worked as well as expected in the A320 production line. In addition, the long range A321LR version requires a high degree of specialized work in the cabin. Finally, the delays that the engine suffered this year put pressure on its production system, and the company has had to juggle to keep pace. On the other hand, Airbus has had difficulty defining orders for two large aircraft, the standard version of the A330 and the company’s controversial A380 double-decker aircraft. Emirates, by far the largest customer of the model, has been reluctant to finalize its commitment to an order announced this year. The matter could affect the cash flow if it is not resolved before 2019.

The larger deliveries of its Airbus A350 wide-body aircraft raised its liquidity and offset production problems. The costs of the program are decreasing as production accelerates, which helps make the aircraft the cash driver that Airbus has needed. The results «appear to be solid at worst. Ultimately, we believe that says more than any caution about whether deliveries for 2018 of Airbus will reach 800 units or not and position Airbus in the long term», Sandy Morris, an analyst at the Jefferies Group in London, wrote in a note. Azores sobrevolando las dificultades

Resultado de imagen para Azores Airlines A321neo

AW | 2018 10 31 16:52 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Azores Airlines flying over the difficulties

Azores Airlines has been the victim of pressures that include rising fuel prices and pressures from foreign companies. The airline competes face-to-face with Irish low-cost airline Ryan Air and Portuguese national carrier TAP Portugal on routes to Portugal from São Miguel and Lajes.

Azores Airlines, originally SATA International, was formed in 1941 and has served as the main transport of the island to and between the Azores. The international arm of the airline operates together with the regional branch SATA Air Açores, which operates propeller aircraft between the islands, and multiple travel and holiday companies that help travelers build their perfect getaway. The main international arm of the SATA Group, Azores Airlines continues to fly in financial difficulties.

Despite using an aging aircraft fleet at a time when fuel prices were high and demand for leisure was low, SATA managed to stay afloat despite the huge losses experienced by the Portuguese economy during the financial recession. The airline would eventually seek to replace the older Airbus A310 with the new Airbus A321NEO and A321LR. The airline silently withdrew its last A310 on 15 October 2018, with the Airbus A321. The airline has also made some restructuring of its air fleet by eliminating two Airbus A320 and A330 service due to budget cuts.

Hoping to captivate the crowds and return to profitability, SATA International made in 2015 to change its brand to Azores Airlines for a better recognition of its name. The new name of the airline would appear on two Airbus A330s that the airline would take in 2015 and use for flights to North America and Portugal. The oldest air structures have adhered to the name SATA, while the new deliveries, including the Airbus A321NEO, are called the Azores. Despite changing the name of the main operator, SATA Group would allow the SATA Air Açores regional arm to continue using the SATA name and brand.

Despite the fact that the change of brand caught the attention of the operator, Azores has not yet recovered and is now in debt of US$ 250 million. The airline has seen promises with accounts such as cash and accounts receivable that made small profits between the 2016 and 2017 operating years, but at the same time, the airline would see an increase in liabilities from US$ 94 million to US$ 133 million. in the same period. The carrier has also successfully improved the transported passengers from 1.8 million to 2.4 million between 2015 and 2017.

As the airline continues to seek to reduce costs, it can resort to eliminating the Airbus A330 from the fleet to lease larger aircraft for specific peak seasons. Azores has rented Airbus A340 from HiFly and Plus Ultra Airlines in the past, and by withdrawing the A330 from the fleet, the airline can operate a smaller fleet of narrow-body Airbus aircraft. In addition, the A321 already has the range to cover both North America and Europe and would consolidate maintenance and operating costs for the operator with cash shortages.

While the inter-island operator continues to succeed as the lifeline between the islands, the largest international brand in the Azores is looking to find a good step after years of difficulties. The airline’s newest fleet and cost reduction plans have left the airline in a better state than before during the beginning of the decade, however, it is likely that more changes will be seen as the brand continues to connect «The Atlantic and You».

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Boeing 737 MAX in the eye of the storm

Boeing-Company-LogoThe accident of the Boeing 737 MAX is in a focus of the safety of commercial aviation

The Boeing 737 MAX line is at the point of greatest complexity and intensity in its short history. The investigation into the crash of Lion Air flight JT-610 carries great risks, not only to the fast-growing budget company but also to The Boeing Co., which considers the airline one of the largest buyers of the 737 MAX aircraft type involved. in the accident.

The plane crashed in the Java Sea on Monday, 20 October 2018 shortly after takeoff from the Jakarta International Airport. Indonesian officials believe that the 189 people on board died. Lion Air is an important client for Boeing 737-8 MAX and other previous variants of the famous Boeing 737 line.

Stock market impact

Boeing shares fell 6.6% after Monday’s accident, its biggest one-day drop since February 2016, due to the impact and repercussions of the world’s best-selling aircraft line. Other companies with large defense companies decreased by a similar amount due to concerns over the reduction of the Pentagon budget.

Technical assistance

Boeing said it is providing «technical assistance upon request and under the direction of government authorities investigating the accident». The investigation is at an early stage and the authorities have not given any indication that a failure in the equipment has caused the accident.

CFM said it is ready to offer any assistance required by Lion Air, the National Transportation Safety Committee and the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation, and the US National Transportation Safety Board. UU

Aviation regulators in the United States will also closely monitor the probe, which will occur amid the efforts of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to streamline procedures to certify new aircraft. A spokesman for the NTSB said the agency will send experts to Indonesia to participate in the investigation. The scope of cooperation of the NTSB will depend on the Indonesian authorities, said the spokesman.

US airlines are important buyers of the Boeing 737 MAX. American Airlines Group Inc. has taken deliveries of 15 aircraft and 85 orders in progress. A spokesman said that American will monitor Lion Air’s developments. Southwest Airlines Co., had 28 of the 737-8 MAX as of September 30, 2018 and orders for 227 additional units. A spokesman said the fleet remained in operation and that the carrier would monitor the investigations.

The Boeing 737 MAX

Boeing has outstanding orders for more than 4,500 of the top 737 jets in four different models and has delivered more than 200. Analysts estimate that 737 represent up to 40% of Boeing’s profits.

Boeing announced the 737 MAX in 2011 after abandoning plans for a new plane, to focus on counteracting the updates that Airbus was making to its family of A320 aircraft. Both aircraft manufacturers gave their most popular aircraft engines and fuselage designs more efficient than existing aircraft. The renovated 737 made its maiden flight in January 2016. Boeing delivered the first MAX earlier than planned to Lion Air in Malaysia in May 2017, under the feeder airline Batik Airlines.

Boeing said the new airplane’s engines and improved aerodynamics could reduce fuel consumption by at least 14% compared to previous models, making it particularly attractive to fast-growing low-cost operators. The variant MAX 8 of the 737 also has greater seating capacity than previous models. It can hold up to 210 passengers, compared to 189 on the 737-800.

Lion Air is one of the biggest customers of the new airplane. The Indonesian operator requested 201 of the new 737 MAXs in 2011, along with 29 of the existing Next Generation version in a deal valued at US$ 22 billion before the usual discounts on such large sales. That makes the seventh largest commercial customer of Lion Air Boeing by value, according to Wolfe Research. Lion Air also has almost US$ 21 billion in outstanding orders with Airbus before the discounts.

CFM began developing the LEAP-1B engines used in the 737 MAX a decade ago to replace its widely used CFM56. Another version of the LEAP-1A engine is used by Airbus in the modern A320NEO. The COMAC C919 from China, still in development, also uses a LEAP-1C engine version.

The LEAP engine is responsible for most of the enhanced fuel efficiency of the 737 MAX. The motor uses composite fan blades that are lighter and more efficient than previous designs.

Boeing and the research organizations must join forces to urgently determine the causes of the accident of the Boeing 737 MAX that dismays the world of aviation. The results should determine a rapid adjustment of the safety standards, since in the American boeing of many Americans, many interests are played, not only of the principal, the safety, but also of the prestige of the famous Boeing 737.

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Indonesia will inspect all Boeing 737 MAX

Urgent inspection of the Boeing 737 MAX ordered

The Indonesian government has ordered national airlines Lion Air and Garuda Airlines to carry out inspections of their Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, the country’s transport ministry said.

The American-made aircraft is a Boeing 737-8 MAX, manufactured in 2018, with Series Number S/N 43000/7043 and started operating for Lion Air on August 15, 20108. The 737 MAX aircraft are the most modern versions of a fourth generation from the famous line of the Boeing 737, the world’s best-selling aircraft.

According to the ADS-B data transmitted by the transponder of the aircraft, the aircraft left runway 25L Jakarta at 06: 21L (23: 21Z on October 28, 2018), never climbed to the remaining 5,400 between 5200 and 5400 feet for about 6 minutes before losing altitude and disappearing radar about 12 minutes after departure, at approximately 06: 33L (23: 33Z), about 35 nm northeast of the Jakarta International Airport.

After the accident of JT-610 flight of Lion Air, Budi Karya Sumadi, the Minister of Transport, pronounced: «Yesterday [October 29] we sent a letter to [the airlines] Lion Air and Garuda Airlines about carrying out inspections, whose results will be presented to the National Transportation Security Committee, to assist in the investigation». The airline Lion Air has eight Boeing 737-8 MAX and the airline Garuda has a Boeing 737-8 MAX.

On October 30, 2018, the Ministry reported that an unscheduled inspection of Lionair aircraft was conducted and indicated that there will be sanctions. The nature of the sanctions is being coordinated with the KNKT. A first instruction to inspect all aircraft has already been issued to Lion Air.

Background of the 737-8 MAX

The plane crashed, a Boeing 737-8 MAX with S / N 43000/7043 and Indonesian license plate PK-LQP, had technical problems after its penultimate flight. «There are things that we need to clarify, before analyzing the actions of the crew and the possibility of errors caused by human factors, we must carry out an inspection of aircraft», the Indonesian minister added, promising a thorough and objective investigation. The Boeing company will provide technical assistance to investigate the incident at the request and under the supervision of the authorities of the country.

Lion Air, told the press that he had received the notice that the ship had mechanical failures in the previous flight, during the trip that made the previous night between Denpasar, Bali, and Jakarta. Anyway, the engineers had given him the green light to take off on the injured flight, because the problem was solved following the established protocols, according to Edward Sirait, executive director of Lion Air.

The Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft of the low-cost airline Lion Air with 181 passengers and eight crew crashed on 29 October 2018 in the Java Sea a few minutes before taking off from Jakarta. The Basarnas spokesman said that it is believed that no one survived the air disaster.

Crew JT-610 asks for a return

Just two minutes after the takeoff of the Boeing 737-8 MAX carrying 189 passengers, the pilot asked the control tower to be given a runway to return to the Soekarno Hatta International Airport.

«We received the pilot’s request to return to the base. The air traffic controller gave permission to return, and there is a recording of it», said Novie Riyanto, the director of AirNav. The aircraft of the company Lion Air crashed into the Java Sea shortly after taking off, the same October 29, from Tangerang, Banten, Indonesia.

The people who traveled

One hundred and eighty-nine people were on the plane, 178 adults, 3 minors, 2 pilots and 6 crew members. Bhavye Suneja, a resident of New Delhi, was one of the pilots, with 6,000 hours of flight, while co-pilot Harvino had already flown 5,000 hours on his own. The crew consisted of Shintia Melina, Citra Noivita Anggelia, Alviani Hidayatul Solikha, Damayanti Simarmata, Mery Yulianda and Deny Maula.

The Indonesian authorities confirmed that the Lion Air aircraft crashed north of the Karawang area, in the waters of the Java Sea. The first boats arrived at the crash site, verifying that the water depth at the site is about 30-35 meters. On the surface there were oil slicks and debris from the aircraft. Authorities say there is no hope of finding survivors. A \ W
