La Argentina y Gran Bretaña definieron que en octubre de 2017 se restablecerá la ruta a las islas; avanza el proceso para identificar a los soldados sepultados en Darwin

En su estrategia por reencauzar las relaciones con Gran Bretaña, la Argentina acordó ayer en Londres con la diplomacia británica el restablecimiento de los vuelos del continente a las islas Malvinas. Asimismo, se avanzó en el proceso de identificación de los soldados argentinos sepultados en el cementerio de Darwin y se profundizaron convenios bilaterales en materia de comercio, inversión, ciencia y turismo.

Luego de dos jornadas de intensas negociaciones, el vicecanciller británico, Alan Duncan, y su par argentino, Pedro Villagra Delgado, resolvieron avanzar en una «agenda positiva» que incorporó un tema tan espinoso como las Malvinas.

Se acordó un plan para que en octubre de 2017 se restablezcan los vuelos de las islas al continente. Éstos tendrían como destino final Chile o Brasil, con una escala en Buenos Aires. No se conoce aún qué compañía será la encargada de esos vuelos, que implicarían una ampliación de la frecuencia aérea semanal.

La frecuencia de vuelos chárter semanales que había de las islas a Río Gallegos desde el denominado acuerdo de Madrid de 1999 se cortó con la llegada de los Kirchner al poder, en 2003. Hoy sólo existe la frecuencia de un vuelo semanal, que une Puerto Argentino con Punta Arenas, y sólo una vez al mes ese vuelo hace escala en Río Gallegos.

El restablecimiento de los vuelos al continente con frecuencias más amplias era un reclamo que venían haciendo desde hacía tiempo los isleños, ya que les permitirá tener una mayor conectividad y no dependerán sólo del vuelo a Punta Arenas o del puente aéreo mensual con Londres. También esto potenciará el turismo y el comercio en las islas.

Además del tema de los vuelos, ambas cancillerías, con la presencia en las reuniones de Londres de los legisladores isleños Mike Summers y Phyl Rendell, establecieron que en julio y agosto del año que viene la Cruz Roja Internacional hará el proceso de identificación de los 123 soldados NN. En enero próximo ya habrá un equipo de peritos en el lugar para hacer una visita técnica.

Según lo acordado entre ayer y anteayer en Londres, la Cruz Roja constituirá un grupo de forenses que contará con la participación de dos expertos argentinos para recoger muestras de ADN de los soldados no identificados, que luego serán comparadas con las muestras recabadas de las familias que voluntariamente han prestado su consentimiento para esa identificación. Ayer, la Cancillería emitió un comunicado, en el que destacó que el proceso de identificación de los 123 soldados NN «es una iniciativa argentina destinada a identificar a estos héroes que lucharon por la patria y traer tranquilidad a sus familias». También, el Palacio San Martín remarcó que el objeto de este proyecto es «netamente humanitario y busca saldar una deuda histórica para con los familiares de combatientes caídos en el conflicto del Atlántico Sur que yacen en el Cementerio de Darwin bajo la leyenda «Soldado argentino solo conocido por Dios»».

«Encantado de firmar un mandato con el vicecanciller Villagra para identificar a los soldados enterrados en el cementerio de Darwin», tuiteó ayer Duncan, apenas terminado el encuentro en Londres. Luego, el vicecanciller británico confirmó que hay «acuerdo» para avanzar con nuevos vuelos entre las islas Malvinas y América latina.

En la Cancillería dijeron que la estrategia de Mauricio Macri apunta a reencauzar las relaciones con Gran Bretaña para lograr beneficios económicos, teniendo en cuenta que Londres quedó aislado de Europa tras el Brexit y necesita de socios comerciales activos.

Además de los acuerdos relacionados con el capítulo de Malvinas, ayer se avanzó en convenios de cooperación conjunta que estaban contemplados en el comunicado conjunto que ambos países sellaron el 29 de noviembre pasado, para reencauzar las relaciones bilaterales dañadas durante los 12 años del kirchnerismo.

Ese comunicado de septiembre y los acuerdos sellados ayer en Londres dejaron bajo un paraguas el debate por la soberanía de las islas que reclama la Argentina. De hecho, la canciller Susana Malcorra expresó ayer a que «la discusión por la soberanía es para largo plazo, porque aún hay heridas abiertas que hacen difícil una conversación objetiva».

De esta manera, la Cancillería destacó en el comunicado que ambas partes «se comprometieron a poner énfasis en la agenda positiva de las relaciones con el objetivo de estrechar aún más los vínculos bilaterales, desarrollar lazos más cercanos y crear una sólida cooperación en beneficio de los pueblos de ambos países». Estos acuerdos contemplan la cooperación en torno a los derechos humanos, la seguridad internacional, la no proliferación, el medio ambiente y cambio climático, energías limpias, comercio e inversión, ciencia, tecnología e innovación, turismo y deporte.

En la comitiva argentina liderada por Villagra Delgado también estaban la subsecretaria de Malvinas, Teresa Kralikas; el director del área, Osvaldo Mársico, y el embajador en Ginebra para organismos internacionales, Marcelo Cima. A\W

Vuelos a Malvinas

Se incrementará la frecuencia de vuelos a las islas desde el continente. Se harán gestiones con Brasil y Chile para determinar cómo serán las escalas y los vuelos de estos lazos aéreos. Este acuerdo se pondrá en marcha en octubre de 2017.

Soldados NN

La Cruz Roja Internacional realizará las tareas de identificación de los soldados enterrados como NN en el cementerio de Darwin de las islas Malvinas. Esto se hará entre julio y agosto del año próximo.
