El hito de entrega a Ryanair del Boeing 737-800 subraya el músculo de fabricación de Wichita
La Boeing Co. celebró el martes la entrega de la 450ª Next-Generation 737-800 a la compañía irlandesa de bajo coste Ryanair, marcando un hito que subraya la importancia de Wichita para la capacidad del fabricante para satisfacer la demanda de los clientes.
Ninguna ciudad del mundo puede reclamar un papel más importante en esas 450 entregas, ya que la Air Capital es el hogar de la producción de alrededor del 70 por ciento de cada 737 que Boeing ofrece.
La compañía dice en un comunicado de prensa que Ryanair ha promediado la entrega de 25 de los aviones de cuerpo estrecho cada año desde 1999.
Eso ocurrió seis años antes de que las operaciones comerciales locales de Boeing se hicieran girar para crear Spirit AeroSystems Inc., donde la producción del fuselaje 737 completo y otros componentes ha continuado.
El 737 es un programa heredado de Spirit, y su alto volumen lo mantiene como el principal proveedor de ingresos en el mayor empleador de Wichita.
Ese trabajo también se reduce a la gran base de suministro local de otras compañías aeroespaciales vinculadas al programa 737 a través de Boeing y Spirit. Y hay mucho más trabajo para Ryanair de Wichita ya planeado para el futuro.
Boeing dice que el transportista tiene más de 80 pedidos sin llenar para los 737-800. También es el cliente de lanzamiento del 737 MAX 200, con 100 de esos aviones bajo pedido.
El trabajo de Spirit en el 737 lleva a la familia de aviones MAX, incluyendo la variante de 200 modelos.
En general, Boeing tiene 4.423 pedidos para 737 aviones en sus libros – que representan alrededor de ocho años de trabajo en ese programa por sí solo para Wichita.

The Boeing Co. on Tuesday celebrated the delivery of the 450th Next-Generation 737-800 to Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair, marking a milestone that underscores Wichita’s importance to the manufacturer’s ability to meet customer demand.
No city in the world can claim a bigger role in those 450 deliveries, as the Air Capital is home to production of about 70 percent of every 737 that Boeing delivers.
The company says in a press release that Ryanair has averaged taking delivery of 25 of the narrow-body aircraft every year since 1999.
That was six years before Boeing’s local commercial operations where spun off to create Spirit AeroSystems Inc., where production of the full 737 fuselage and other components has continued.
The 737 is a legacy program at Spirit, and its high volume keeps it the primary revenue driver at Wichita’s largest employer.
That work also trickles down to the large local supply base of other aerospace companies tied to the 737 program through Boeing and Spirit. And there is plenty more work for Ryanair from Wichita already planned for the future.
Boeing says the carrier has more than 80 unfilled orders for the 737-800s. It is also the launch customer of the 737 MAX 200, with 100 of those aircraft on order.
Spirit’s work on the 737 carries over to the MAX family of aircraft, including the 200 model variant.
Overall, Boeing has 4,423 orders for 737 aircraft on its books — representing around eight years of work on just that program alone for Wichita. A\W
