AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Modernización de Aeroparque

Jorge Newbery Airport Expansion

The Government of Argentina will carry out expansions in the Aeroparque Jorge Newbery

Aeropuertos Argentina 2000, will have to conclude the landscaping works and adaptation for the projected work of remodeling and expansion of the South head of Jorge Newbery Airport. The measure was arranged by decree 70/18, includes a property of just over twelve hectares, which runs from the polygon delimited by the new Avenue Costanera Rafael Obligado, Sarmiento Avenue and the roundabout linking them, which was part of the location of the previous Costanera Avenue and that was between the new route and the landing strip.

In this area, the concessionaire started the landscaping and expansion of the parking lot, on the grounds that the North parking lot will soon be unoccupied to allow the expansion of the Passenger Terminal, and the instrumentation of new positions for aircraft.

The works projected on the ceded lands include the extension of the track 180 meters to the south; the extension of the runway end areas 90 meters to the south, and the preparation of an area against the erosion of the land at both ends of the runway. In addition, the expansion of the parallel taxiway and the creation of a new taxiway access road are also contemplated. The works come at a time when the government is looking to expand the offer of low cost airlines (low cost) for the local market.

The National Government incorporated to the Aeroparque Jorge Newbery the land through which Costanera Avenue passed. Now a new expansion is expected, which will allow more aircraft to concentrate due to the increase in demand. A \ W

Investigación American AA383

AW | 2018 01 25 15:28 | AVIATION SAFETY / AIR INVESTIGATION

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

American AA383 Research

Investigation of American Airlines flight AA383

American Airlines Flight AA383 was a regular passenger flight operating from Chicago O’Hare Airport to Miami International Airport. On October 28, 2016, the Boeing 767-300ER operating the flight (registered N345AN), was accelerating to take off from Rwy 28R of Chicago O’Hare, when the right engine of the aircraft suffered an uncontrolled fault that caused a fire severe. The crew managed to abort the takeoff and evacuate everyone on board, while the emergency fire services managed to put out the fire. Twenty people were injured, and the plane suffered irreparable damage.

The AA383 flight of American Airlines aborts take-off by fire principle. The Boeing 767-300 starts to catch fire, so the crew declares the emergency and evacuates all the passengers by means of the inflatable slides and the emergency exits on the wings.

At least twenty people were hospitalized for minor injuries. The captain of the aircraft, upon aborting the takeoff, caused the brakes to be subjected to the maximum demand, causing overheating and subsequent fire of the same.

The lack of visibility seemed to be one of the reasons why passengers evacuated the Boeing 767-300 at O’Hare Airport in Chicago.

The National Transportation Safety Board determined that there was a delay in the evacuation responses of the Boeing 767-300 by the crew of flight AA383 at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago.

The investigators requested interviews to the pilots to corroborate if a video camera could have alerted them, because the command crew could not see the beginning of fire in the wing zone. The NTSB is studying the case to determine if it is necessary to develop new safety directives to alert the crew to this type of emergency. A \ W

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Alaska Airlines incorporates the first A320CEO

Alaska Airlines has added its first Airbus A320CEO to its fleet

After the Department of Transportation approved the merger between Alaska Airlines and Virgin America Airlines, parent company Alaska Airlines has incorporated a new line of aircraft into its fleet, the first Airbus A320CEO. The aircraft had previously been used under the signature of Virgin America, a subsidiary of Alaska Air Group based in Seattle.

The new Airbus A320-200 aircraft with N625VA registration has been complemented to the Alaska Airlines fleet. It uses CFM International CFM56 engines. The plane is twelve years old.

Alaska Airlines has added to its fleet of aircraft a new product line Airbus A320-200CEO, using a paint scheme similar to that used throughout the company, the Eskimo logo of Alaska.

Alaska acquired Virgin America in December 2016, initiating a process of merging actions and image. The Airbus A320-200 from Virgin America is in the process of repainting in the colors of Alaska Airlines.

The company has said it expects to completely eliminate the Virgin brand by the end of 2019. By October 2018, it wants to configure the cabins on Virgin’s A320 in a configuration similar to that of the Alaska Boeing 737s. Virgin operates a mix of 67 A319, A320 and A321NEO’s, and has orders for 36 aircraft of the Airbus A320 family.

Alaska Airlines intends to homogenize the long-term fleet on the Boeing 737NG / MAX line, so the Airbus line will remain for some time on Alaska Airlines. A \ W

Taiwán denega derechos tráfico adicional

AW | 2018 01 24 16:06 | AIRLINES

AIRWAYS® AW-Icon TXT

Taiwan Denies Additional Traffic Rights

Taiwan has denied additional air traffic rights to China Eastern Airlines and Xiamen Airlines

The Civil Aviation Administration of Taiwan (CAA) has denied the traffic rights of China Eastern Airlines and Xiamen Airlines for additional flights between mainland China and Taiwan due to a political dispute over the use of border air routes.

The move follows a unilateral decision made by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), which opened four routes near the disputed maritime border with Taiwan for civil aviation in early January 2018. Taiwan argues that by allowing traffic to the north use route M503, as well as activating the three extension routes W121, W122 and W123 for air traffic, China has violated the terms of a 2015 agreement between Beijing and Taipei.

China Eastern Airlines has requested 106 additional flights in February and Xiamen Airlines has requested to operate 70 additional flights, the CAA said on Friday. All of these applications are still under review, the administration official added. China Eastern Airlines has not reported, while Xiamen Airlines urged the CAA to approve flights, saying that around 10,000 customers have already booked tickets for the services in question.

The CAAC argues that the use of these routes, located entirely within the airspace controlled by mainland China, is a domestic measure used to relieve congestion on some of its busiest routes and fully complies with international standards.

China Eastern Airlines currently operates a total of 83 weekly flights across the Taiwan Strait, including flights to Taipei Taoyuan from 16 cities in mainland China, Kaohsiung from four cities, Taipei Sung Shan outside Shanghai Hongqiao, and Taichung Ching Chuan Kang outside of Nanjing. For its part, Xiamen Airlines operates a total of 38 weekly flights, including five routes to Taipei Taoyuan, three to Kaohsiung and two to Taipei Sung Shan. A \ W
