El nuevo aeródromo tendrá capacidad para transportar a 220 millones de pasajeros y 16 millones de toneladas de carga al año

Dubai invertirá 35.700 millones de dólares (37.100 millones de euros al cambio actual) para construir el aeropuerto más grande del mundo. Las instalaciones se realizarán en Dubai World Central y alrededores, incluyendo el aeropuerto internacional de Al Maktoum (Emiratos Árabes Unidos). Está prevista la finalización para 2028 y contará con cinco pistas de aterrizaje y una capacidad para recibir 220 millones de pasajeros y 16 millones de toneladas de carga al año.

Según informa Bloomberg, el proyecto, además de un hito en infraestructuras, será un estímulo de inversión. Antes de poner la primera piedra, el Gobierno de Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum ha invitado a los grandes bancos de inversión para abrir la puja de un préstamo inicial de 3.000 millones de dólares.

La operación está diseñada para que Dubái pague un interés variable según la evolución del tráfico aéreo de los dos aeropuertos internacionales que tiene Emiratos Árabes. El Gobierno prevé que el tráfico aéreo pase de 78 millones de pasajeros a 146 millones en 2025.

El aeropuerto de Al Maktoum fue inaugurado en 2010, al inicio solo para transporte de mercancías, y el año pasado recibió su primer vuelo de pasajeros. Actualmente, las instalaciones que formarán parte del nuevo aeropuerto cuentan con una pista adaptada para el Airbus 380, 64 hangares para aviones y una capacidad de cinco millones de pasajeros al año en su primera terminal.

Las instalaciones aéreas forman parte del desarrollo de Dubai World Central, al sur de la capital. Se trata de un megacentro logístico de 140 kilómetros cuadrados con zona comercial, residencial y un campo de golf. El complejo albergará la exposición mundial de 2020.

Dubai will invest 35.7 billion dollars (37.1 billion euros at current exchange rate) to build the world’s largest airport. The facilities will be held in Dubai World Central and surroundings, including Al Maktoum International Airport (United Arab Emirates). Completion is scheduled for 2028 and will have five runways and a capacity to receive 220 million passengers and 16 million tons of cargo per year.

According to Bloomberg, the project, besides a milestone in infrastructure, will be an investment stimulus. Before laying the foundation stone, the government of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has invited the big investment banks to open the bid for an initial loan of $ 3 billion.

The operation is designed for Dubai to pay a variable interest rate based on the evolution of the air traffic of the two international airports that has UAE. The Government expects air traffic to increase from 78 million passengers to 146 million by 2025.

Al Maktoum Airport was inaugurated in 2010, initially only for freight transport, and last year it received its first passenger flight. Currently, the facilities that will be part of the new airport have a runway adapted for the Airbus 380, 64 hangars for airplanes and a capacity of five million passengers a year in its first terminal.
