La VIII Cumbre de la Organización Mundial de Turismo (OMT), tendrá su sede en la Isla de Margarita, destino turístico venezolano que este 2017 celebrará también varias citas de relevantes organismos intenacionales.

Alí Padrón, viceministro de Turismo Internacional, de Venezuela confirmó la realización de varias cumbres y foros internacionales sobre el Turismo Sostenible en la también conocida como Perla del Caribe.

Otro evento que se espera para este año es el de la Asociación de Estados del Caribe (AEC), organización para la consulta, la cooperación y la acción concertada en la esfera del comercio, transporte, turismo sostenible y los desastres naturales en el Gran Caribe. Estas dos cumbres deben efectuarse entre junio y septiembre de este año. Padrón dijo que la decisión de elegir a la Isla como sede fue tomada en la séptima edición de esta asociación, celebrada el año pasado en Nicaragua. Margarita albergó a los participantes de la III Cumbre de la AEC en diciembre de 2001.

La cita de la AEC es el cónclave más importante de la organización, celebrada periódicamente al nivel más alto, facilitando la convergencia de los jefes de Estado y/o Gobierno o sus Representantes de Alto Nivel de todos los países miembros. Igualmente, Padrón ratificó la Isla de Margarita como sede permanente de la Feria Internacional de Turismo de Venezuela (Fitven) e informó que afinan los preparativos de la duodécima edición de ese evento, a realizarse entre el 23 y 26 de noviembre en el centro de convenciones Hugo Chávez del hotel Venetur Margarita.

«La realización de esos eventos evidencia que se ha hecho un esfuerzo importante para alcanzar la relevancia que en estos momentos se le está dando a la isla de Margarita como sede para albergar eventos internacionales”, acotó Padrón. Además, Padrón destacó que esos foros son escenarios ideales para el intercambio de las experiencias con los diferentes países, dirigida a fortalecer la atención al turista, uno de los planteamientos discutidos. Esta ocasión será aprovechada para abordar políticas que permitan coordinar estrategias de seguridad, que puedan ser tomadas en cuentas por los organismos internacionales.

El viceministro de Turismo Internacional, Alí Padrón, confirmó también la participación de Venezuela en diversas ferias a realizarse este año en países como Alemania, Rusia, Brasil y Colombia. Confirmó la presencia en la Vitrina Turística de Anato del 1 al 3 de marzo en Bogotá; la ITB de Berlín, del 8 al 12 de marzo; la 24ª Moscow International, entre el 14 y 16 de marzo; la Bolsa Internacional de Turismo en Milán, Italia, del 2 al 4 de abril; la WTM Latin American en Sao Paulo, Brasil, del 4 al 6 de abril, y la XXXVII Feria Internacional de Turismo de Cuba en Holguín, del 3 al 5 de mayo, entre otras.

Margarita to host World Tourism Summit
