El Proyecto del Aeropuerto Notre-Dame-des-Landes ha sido cancelado por Francia

El proyecto de un nuevo Aeropuerto Notre-Dame-des-Landes, cerca de la ciudad de Nantes había sido estudiado desde 1967 para ampliar el tráfico aéreo del país y, específicamente, de la ciudad de Nantes. Según los promotores, el aeropuerto de dicha ciudad no aguantaría el aumento previsto de viajes en avión.

La fuerte oposición al proyecto desde sus inicios por parte de residentes y agricultores de la zona así como de grupos ambientalistas hicieron que a partir del 2007 este movimiento se transformó con la ocupación de la zona delimitada por una figura de ordenamiento territorial Zone d’Aménagement Différée (ZAD). Desde ese entonces fue renombrada como Zona A Defender.

En 2012 la Operación Policial César se estrelló contra las barricadas de la ZAD y, además de no lograr el desalojo, dejó unas imágenes casi militar de violencia policial que avergonzaron a las instituciones francesas.

El 17 de Enero 2018, el Gobierno de Francia anunció el abandono oficial del proyecto. “Constatamos que las condiciones no están reunidas para llevar a cabo el proyecto de Aeropuerto en Notre-Dame-des-Landes. Tal proyecto, que estructura el territorio para un siglo, no se puede hacer en un contexto de oposición tan fuerte”, declaró el Primer Ministro, Édouard Philippe.

“Es la diversidad la que ganó”, dice un campesino que se mantuvo en la zona a pesar de las expropiaciones. El movimiento logró unir y articular a los diferentes componentes de la lucha. La solidaridad y unidad del pueblo francés ha logrado después de más de cincuenta años de lucha materializar el reclamo con éxito como la gran ganadora de esa lucha histórica en Francia.

The Notre-Dame-des-Landes Airport Project has been canceled by France

The project of a new Notre-Dame-des-Landes Airport, near the city of Nantes had been studied since 1967 to expand the air traffic of the country and, specifically, of the city of Nantes. According to the promoters, the airport of said city would not support the expected increase in air travel.

The strong opposition to the project since its inception by residents and farmers in the area as well as environmental groups made that from 2007 this movement was transformed with the occupation of the area bounded by a figure of territorial zoning Zone d’Aménagement Différée (ZAD). Since then it was renamed as Zone A Defender.

In 2012 the César Police Operation crashed into the barricades of the ZAD and, in addition to not achieving the eviction, left some military images of police violence that embarrassed the French institutions.

On January 17, 2018, the Government of France announced the official abandonment of the project. «We note that the conditions are not met to carry out the airport project in Notre-Dame-des-Landes. Such a project, which structures the territory for a century, can not be done in such a strong opposition context», declared the Prime Minister, Édouard Philippe.

«It’s the diversity that won», says one peasant who remained in the area despite the expropriations. The movement managed to unite and articulate the different components of the struggle. Le projet d’un nouvel Aéroport Notre-Dame-des-Landes, près de la ville de Nantes avait été étudiée depuis 1967 pour développer le trafic aérien dans le pays et plus particulièrement la ville de Nantes. Selon les promoteurs, l’aéroport de ladite ville ne soutiendrait pas l’augmentation prévue du trafic aérien.

La forte opposition au projet depuis sa création par les résidents et les agriculteurs de la région ainsi que des groupes environnementaux réalisés depuis 2007, ce mouvement a été transformé avec l’occupation de la zone délimitée par une figure de l’utilisation des terres Zone d’Aménagement différée (ZAD). Depuis lors, il a été renommé Zone A Defender.

En 2012, l’opération de police César écrasé barricades ZAD et aussi ne pas l’expulsion, a laissé une image quasi-militaires de la violence policière qui fait honte des institutions françaises.

Le 17 janvier 2018, le gouvernement de la France a annoncé l’abandon officiel du projet. «Nous constatons que les conditions ne sont pas réunis pour mener à bien l’aéroport proposé à Notre-Dame-des-Landes. Un tel projet, qui structurent le territoire d’un siècle, ne peut se faire dans un contexte d’opposition si forte», a déclaré le Premier ministre, Édouard Philippe.

«C’est la diversité qui a gagné», explique un paysan resté dans la région malgré les expropriations. Le mouvement a réussi à unir et articuler les différentes composantes de la lutte.
