Huelga afectará alrededor de 20.000 pasajeros
La huelga de Tripulantes Cabina de Pasajeros de la aerolínea low cost Ryanair Belgium ha entrado en huelga el Viernes 30/12. A pesar de la amenaza de los pilotos belgas de unirse a la huelga de Tripulantes de Cabina, la compañía de presupuesto europea desplega personal no belga para reemplazar a los empleados en huelga. Reconoció que la situación había mejorado en 2018 después de las primeras huelgas de personal, pero señaló que esto ocurrió sin la asistencia de las autoridades públicas. El funcionario sindical dijo que la compañía low cost continuó faltando el respeto a la legislación laboral belga y lamentó la falta de acción de las autoridades. “Si servicios como la Oficina Nacional de Seguridad Social (ONSS) intentan hacer su trabajo registrando infracciones, las autoridades judiciales no hacen un seguimiento. La situación es completamente incomprensible”, declaró Didier Lebbe del CNE en ese momento.
Según el diario belga Le Soir, el Director General del Aeropuerto de Charleroi, Philippe Verdonck, ha sido citado diciendo: “Diecinueve mil personas están siendo tomadas como rehenes debido a este ataque. ¿Entiende esta huelga? ¡Estamos lanzando un movimiento debido a la incertidumbre sobre el futuro de la base de Bruselas! Bienvenidos a Bélgica y gracias a aquellos que están instigando este movimiento”.
Ryanair reacciona
Los temores de los huelguistas de que Ryanair llamaría a personal extranjero para evitar la huelga se han confirmado, dijo Didier Lebbe, del Centro Nacional de Empleados (CNE), estimando que seis de los quince aviones con base en el Aeropuerto de Charleroi despegaron esta mañana con tripulación de cabina no belga. En respuesta, el sindicato cree que la huelga, prevista para este fin de semana el 30, 31 de Diciembre de 2022 y 1 de Enero de 2023 y los próximos días 7 y 8 de Enero de 2023 impactarán fuertemente en el tráfico de la aerolínea.
El Jueves 29/12 por la noche, los pilotos belgas de la compañía habían advertido a Ryanair que también dejarían de trabajar si la aerolínea utilizaba empleados no belgas para contrarrestar a sus colegas en huelga. Hasta ahora, entre 150 y 200 personas están en huelga en Charleroi. El Viernes 30/12 por la mañana, casi sesenta de los vuelos de regreso de la compañía fueron cancelados por el día, pero este número probablemente se incremente considerablemente. Las tripulaciones que operaban vuelos más largos por la mañana actualmente no estarán disponibles por la tarde y no es seguro que haya suficiente tripulación para garantizar las siguientes conexiones. Según las últimas estimaciones, la huelga afectará a unos 20.000 pasajeros.
¿Cómo recuperar su dinero?
La organización de protección del consumidor Test Achats reiteró que en caso de cancelación por parte de la aerolínea, la aerolínea está obligada a ofrecer a los pasajeros una alternativa: un vuelo alternativo o un reembolso. También se proporciona una compensación en caso de retrasos o vuelos alternativos. Dependiendo de cuánto tiempo tengas que esperar, puedes tener derecho a una indemnización de entre € 250 y 600 Euros. Los viajeros afectados pueden solicitar esta compensación en el sitio web de Ryanair. “La compensación monetaria está determinada por las distancias entre los aeropuertos de salida y llegada”, se lee en un comunicado en el sitio web: 250 Euros para vuelos de 1.500 km o menos; o € 400 para vuelos intra-europeos de más de 1.500 km y para todos los demás vuelos entre 1.500 km y 3.500 km; o € 600 para todos los vuelos no comunitarios de más de 3.500 km. En caso de que se quede varado en el extranjero, se proporciona una compensación por comidas y pernoctaciones.

Ryanair reacts
Strikers’ fears that Ryanair would call in foreign staff to prevent the strike have been confirmed, said Didier Lebbe of the National Center for Employees (CNE), estimating that six of the fifteen planes based at Charleroi Airport took off this morning. with non-Belgian cabin crew. In response, the union believes that the strike, scheduled for this weekend on December 30, 31, 2022 and January 1, 2023 and the next days on January 7 and 8, 2023 will strongly impact the airline’s traffic.

The crews that operated longer flights in the morning will currently be unavailable in the afternoon and it is not certain that there will be enough crew to guarantee the following connections. According to the latest estimates, the strike will affect some 20,000 passengers.
How to get your money back?
The consumer protection organization Test Achats reiterated that in the event of cancellation by the airline, the airline is obliged to offer passengers an alternative: an alternative flight or a refund. Compensation is also provided in case of delays or alternative flights. Depending on how long you have to wait, you may be entitled to compensation of between € 250 and € 600.
