The Libyan passenger aircraft, with 118 people onboard, was on an internal flight when it was diverted, according to reports.
The prime minister of Malta Joseph Muscat tweeted that he had been informed of a «potential hijack situation» involving an internal Libyan flight diverted to Malta.
Malta airport says the plane from Libya has landed and it appears two hijackers are on board.
