UPS ha ordenado catorce Boeing 747-8F adicionales
La compañía carguera UPS ha ejercido una opción con Boeing para comprar otros catorce aviones de carga Boeing 747-8F. Es esta manera la compañía carguera estadounidense ha duplicando el pedido que realizó en 2016.
«Los nuevos aviones de carga nos permitirán continuar ampliando aviones en las rutas y crearán un efecto de cascada que impulsará la capacidad en las rutas regionales de todo el mundo. Al celebrar el 30 º aniversario de UPS Airlines, estamos viendo una demanda sin precedentes para nuestros productos de aire”, declaró el presidente UPS Airlines Brendan Canavan. El acuerdo de UPS también incluye cuatro Boeing 767-300F cargueros.
Según Randy Tinseth, Vicepresidente de Mercadotecnia, con su ritmo de producción actual de seis 747-8F por año, la línea de producción del Jumbo se extenderá hacia la próxima década.
El Boeing 747-8F tiene una capacidad para acomodar palets de 10 pies, con su capacidad para transportar carga de alta densidad, le da una flexibilidad que es realmente incomparable en el mercado. Esta última orden aumenta la cartera de Boeing a más de 100 cargueros en las líneas 747, 767 y 777.
La IATA ha informado que como resultado del floreciente mercado de comercio electrónico, la compañía también está experimentando un gran interés en las conversiones de versiones de pasajeros de sus productos en transportistas de carga. En el primer trimestre, Boeing entregará la primera conversión 737-800, y como los ejemplos más antiguos de ese tipo están llegando al punto en que se eliminan del servicio de pasajeros, el OEM espera que se amplíe el stock de alimentación para más conversiones.
La otra plataforma donde Boeing está viendo una fuerte demanda de conversiones es en el Boeing 767, habiendo realizado 22 hasta la fecha, con otras 25 en la acumulación. Randy Tinseth dijo que con un fuerte mercado de pasajeros, los valores de los 767 usados siguen siendo altos, lo que crea un desafío para ubicar los fuselajes adecuados a un precio apropiado.

IATA has reported that as a result of the burgeoning e-commerce market, the company is also experiencing great interest in the conversion of passenger versions of its products into freight carriers. In the first quarter, Boeing will deliver the first 737-800 conversion, and since the oldest examples of that type are reaching the point where they are eliminated from passenger service, the OEM expects the feed stock to be expanded for more conversions.
The other platform where Boeing is seeing strong demand for conversions is in the Boeing 767, having made 22 to date, with another 25 in the accumulation.
