Con la intención de volar en rutas donde Latam Airlines y Sky Airlines no operan, la nueva aerolínea Chilean Airways comenzó a realizar viajes esta semana.
La incipiente compañía surgió luego que un grupo de inversionistas chilenos compraran la marca Aerodesierto, la que mantenía sus certificaciones y permisos al día ante los organismos reguladores aéreos, por lo que podían comenzar a operar.
«Actualmente la flota consiste en un avión, pero se espera que lleguen dos más en los próximos días para dejarlos en Iquique. Vamos a operar las conexiones nacionales y vuelos internacionales también hacia el Caribe», cuenta José Raúl Bolívar, CEO y dueño de la nueva firma.
En esa línea, explica que la idea de Chilean Airways es volar a destinos que están desprovistos de aeroservicios comerciales, sin meternos en rutas de Lan y Sky, obviamente.
Por el contrario, nosotros tenemos un contrato con Sky en Iquique, entonces estamos viendo otros temas como carga con ellos y ver más posibilidades de servicios entre compañías». El pasado lunes 27 se realizó el primer vuelo entre Santiago-Calama, con 92 pasajeros a bordo.
Por ahora, realizan viajes para One Airlines, compañía que trabaja para el transporte de trabajadores relacionados a la minería.
El ejecutivo aclara que la nueva aerolínea no opera con venta de pasajes al público, sino que a través de agencias, las que compran la capacidad de los vuelos, para posteriormente dedicarse a comercializarlos.
Planes de expansión Al Boeing 732-200 que actualmente posee la firma y que fue comprado a la chilena Sky, se sumarán dos naves más de similares características, pero que se mantendrán en Iquique.
«Por ahora estamos con dos vuelos semanales y esperamos tener cinco a la semana como Calama-Santiago, Santiago Antofagasta, La Serena-Iquique».
Cuando lleguen más aviones esperamos tener otros itinerarios como Iquique-Calama, Iquique –Antofagasta, entre otras», sostiene Bolívar.
Sin embargo, el ejecutivo y dueño de la aerolínea adelanta que ofrecerán vuelos hacia varias zonas del Caribe desde Iquique, como Curaçao, Aruba, República Dominicana y La Habana. Mientras que ya están comercializando vuelos desde Bolivia, Ecuador, Perú y Paraguay, Argentina, hacia Chile, a través de servicios de Charter.
