Alas Uruguay acordó venta a aerolínea chilena LAW con recorte a la mitad del personal. La aerolínea chilena recortará a la mitad la planilla actual de la empresa autogestionada

Alas Uruguay y la aerolínea chilena Latin American Wings (LAW) alcanzaron este jueves un «acuerdo marco» como «primer paso para su integración», anunció la trasandina en un comunicado. Esto está «supeditado» al visto bueno del gobierno uruguayo, agrega el texto.

LAW busca así «iniciar formalmente un proceso de revisión de antecedentes en su par uruguaya, con la finalidad de poder materializar en el corto plazo la operación que involucrará el pago de los pasivos que actualmente mantiene» Alas Uruguay.

El comunicado indica que para esto la chilena deberá comprar la totalidad del paquete accionario de la aerolínea autogestionada que tiene, entre otros, un pasivo de US$ 15 millones con el Fondes. A esto se suman los salarios adeudados a los trabajadores, pero se aclara que en un «inicio» se garantizará un «mínimo» de 75 puestos de trabajo, un 50% menos de los que hoy trabajan en la compañía.

«En el caso de que la auditoria legal y financiera de Alas Uruguay avance correctamente, se espera que la aerolínea vuelva a operar a la brevedad, teniendo como prioridad el restablecimiento del «puente aéreo» entre la ciudad de Montevideo y el aeropuerto de Aeroparque en Buenos Aires, lo que se enmarca en la estrategia de LAW de expandir su presencia en América Latina», señala el comunicado divulgado este jueves.

LAW es un nuevo jugador de la industria aeronáutica. De hecho, nació en enero pasado, el mismo mes en que Alas Uruguay empezó a volar. La aerolínea chilena -en la que trabajan 145 personas- cubre hoy Punta Cana, La Romana, Lima y Puerto Príncipe.

Alas Uruguay and Chilean airline Latin American Wings (LAW) reached a «framework agreement» on Thursday as «the first step towards integration,» the transandina announced in a statement. This is «subject» to the approval of the Uruguayan government, the text added.

LAW thus seeks to «formally initiate a process of review of its Uruguayan counterparts, with the purpose of being able to materialize in the short term the operation that will involve the payment of the liabilities that currently maintains» Alas Uruguay.

The statement indicates that for this the Chilean will have to buy the entire stock of the self-managed airline that has, among others, a liability of US $ 15 million with Fondes. To this are added the wages owed to workers, but clarifies that in a «start» will guarantee a «minimum» of 75 jobs, 50% less than those who now work in the company.

«In the event that the legal and financial audit of Alas Uruguay advances correctly, it is expected that the airline will resume operations as soon as possible, with the restoration of the «air bridge» between the city of Montevideo and Aeroparque airport in Buenos Aires, which is part of LAW’s strategy to expand its presence in Latin America,» said the statement released Thursday.
