La estrategia de la aerolínea italiana es debido al riesgo de no perder el acceso a las rutas a Nueva York por incumplimientos de pagos

Alitalia ha abierto un procedimiento de bancarrota en Estados Unidos, ante el riesgo de perder el acceso al Aeropuerto Internacional John F. Kennedy de Nueva York por facturas impagadas.

El procedimiento para la venta de la compañía aérea lleva sus complicaciones pero existe interés por parte de otras aerolíneas para su compra. Sin remedios a la vista, ha apelado ante el tribunal de bancarrota estadounidense a la protección ante insolvencias internacionales recogida en el capítulo 15 del Código de Quiebras de Estados Unidos, según informa The Wall Street Journal.

Alitalia ha adoptado esta decisión después de que el operador de la Terminal 1 del aeropuerto JFK de Nueva York le notificara que su contrato de arrendamiento finalizaría esta misma semana si no pagaba sus deudas, publican varios medios. La aerolínea opera nueve vuelos diarios entre Estados Unidos e Italia.

La compañía aérea italiana recibió el visto bueno de 32 inversores que estarían interesados en participar en el capital de la aerolínea.
