Agencias turísticas vs las aerolíneas

AW | 2017 06 11 12:18 | CONGRESS

AIRGWAYS ® Icon-AW

Tourist agencies vs airlines

Argentine Federation of Travel and Tourism Companies threatened to initiate legal action against airlines if they do not reimburse the payment of commissions

The president of the Argentine Federation of Travel and Tourism Companies (Faevyt), Fabricio Di Giambattista, announced that this entity will take legal action against airlines that failed to pay commissions to ticket issuers, if they did not resolve their decision.

In the framework of Faevyt’s congress in Catamarca, the businessman explained that «although in some countries there is zero commission, what we say is that zero only works in countries with other economies and other taxes» and remarked that «in the region There is no zero commission, in the only place that was propitió was here in Argentina».

According to Di Giambattista, the situation «generates an inability of competition from many agencies that can not offer tickets, because you can not work at a loss», and «considered that the decision of the airlines affects the smaller travel agencies by».

«Not being able to offer a tourist product they are less likely to sell and they will have to supply the air services commercial,» he said, and said that «that is our demand, our claim, if there was a chance to review it would be great and if not, We will continue with the demand «.

The initial kick-off on the refusal to pay commissions to travel agencies was given by Aerolíneas Argentinas, which was followed by Gol, Aeromexico, Latam and Copa, so Faevyt made the decision to take legal action against these companies. «If there is no possibility of reviewing this measure, someone will have to see if there is a legal possibility that we work at zero remuneration,» said Di Giambattista.

AIRGWAYS ® Icon-AW

Arab dispute aggravates problems of Gulf airlines

Cancun, Mexico · The gap between the Arab powers has hit airlines that have already been damaged by low oil prices and portable bans, highlighting the sensitivity of the Gulf centers to regional uncertainty and Opening up a gap for rival airlines, at least in the short term.

The unexpected closure of most of the airspace surrounding the Qatar airline and restrictions on the travel of its nationals left passengers stranded and forced its CEO to leave a meeting of airline executives in Mexico.

«We were completely surprised at all,» said Alexandre de Juniac, director of the International Air Transport Association, after the meeting of some 200 airlines.

Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Baréin broke diplomatic ties with Qatar on Monday for alleged support for the militants. The transport links are closed.

Caught in a diplomatic row for the second time in three years, Qatar Airways was forced to reorient a dozen flights across Iranian airspace, while the world’s second richest nation per capita was virtually isolated by air restrictions. It was a dramatic blow for the then-mighty airline, which has invested billions of dollars in airplanes and confronted its American competitors in its vertiginous expansion.

«The entire business model is based on being a hub airport, they have invested in the airport, they have invested in last generation aircraft, they are losing a key source of traffic to the main local markets.» «With the ban on airspace, not only is it a headache to reorient part of the operation, but it will make longer flights by having to make detours. It adds time and costs and disturbs its schedules in connection with connections,» he said. John Strickland, British aviation consultant. A \ W
