La aerolínea Copa Airlines logró un acuerdo laboral con los pilotos para descomprimir la huelga que tenían prevista realizar a partir de este jueves tras llegar a un acuerdo con la empresa, informó el Ministerio de Trabajo y Desarrollo Laboral.

De acuerdo con un comunicado de ese ministerio, mediador en el conflicto, los pilotos y la compañía aérea lograron «un acuerdo satisfactorio en las negociaciones de una nueva convención colectiva». «Todo este esfuerzo se conjuga en la suspensión del llamado a huelga».

El sindicato Unión Panameña de Aviadores Comerciales (Unpac), que agrupa a cerca de un millar de pilotos de Copa, había convocado a una huelga indefinida en demanda de mejoras salariales y laborales. Los pilotos negociaban desde octubre un convenio colectivo con la aerolínea, que vuela a unas 75 ciudades en 30 países del continente americano, incluido Estados Unidos. Dentro de las exigencias contemplaban un aumento de 36% en los salarios y los diferentes beneficios que reciben. También pedían que los sueldos vayan acorde con una tabla de antigüedad y que a los pilotos se les pague el tiempo previo al despegue, donde revisan el plan de vuelo o el mapa meteorológico.

De esta manera cancelan huelga prevista para este jueves, por lo que Copa Airlines realizará sus vuelos con normalidad.
