South African Airways afronta pérdidas y riesgo de quiebra

Las pérdidas acumuladas de South African Airways (SAA) están haciendo difícil la subsistencia de la aerolínea socavada por una mala gestión

La aerolínea estatal sudafricana perdió dinero en cada uno de los últimos siete ejercicios, con lo que la acumulación de números rojos es insoportable. A día de hoy, la única esperanza está en manos del presidente de Sudáfrica, Cyril Ramaphosa, tras comprometerse a reflotar las aerolíneas del Estado después de años de corrupción y una deficiente gestión bajo el mandato de Jacob Zuma. En 2017 la compañía aérea registró pérdidas netas de más de U$S 471.000.000 de dólares siendo complicado elaborar un correcto registro financiero de los activos, según informa el Auditor General del Ministerio de Finanzas de Sudáfrica.

Por su parte, el Director Ejecutivo de la aerolínea, Vuyani Jarana, está haciendo todo lo posible para reducir rutas y gastos con tal de aminorar la dependencia con el Gobierno. Al mismo tiempo la compañía está buscando un socio capitalista que aporte efectivo a la empresa. Mientras, la aerolínea estatal sudafricana está elaborando una lista de activos para ponerla en venta.

Para el nuevo presidente sudafricano, Cyril Ramaphosa, la crisis en SAA es uno de los muchos temas candentes heredados de su administración. De hecho, la empresa fue arrastrada por la mala gestión que se hizo durante los años de Zuma. La aerolínea chilena de bajo costo Latin American Wings (LAW) anunció la suspensión de todas sus vuelos comerciales

La aerolínea chilena Latin American Wings (LAW) suspendió repentinamente todos sus vuelos programadas y anunció una reorganización del funcionamiento de la empresa. A través de un comunicado el Gerente General de la compañía aérea, Andrés Dulcinelli, aseguró que «la guerra de precios, impuesta por las grandes empresas de la industria aeronáutica, provocó que al interior de la compañía se inicie un proceso de reorganización que considera el ingreso de nuevos capitales. Esta determinación nos permitirá continuar operando bajo un nuevo modelo de negocio. Para implementarlo, se hace necesario suspender temporalmente las operaciones regulares y la venta de pasajes. Reconocemos que esta medida tendrá efectos sobre algunos de nuestros pasajeros y lamentamos profundamente los inconvenientes que se generarán».

La medida ha dejado a cientos de pasajeros varados en el aeropuerto de Lima, donde las autoridades suspendieron las actividades de la aerolínea el 4 de Marzo 2018. A través de un comunicado, la aerolínea que volaba a las ciudades de Lima, Mendoza, Punta Cana, Puerto Príncipe, Caracas y Miami, detalló que la suspensión considera todos los vuelos programados por itinerario. Los, pasajeros varados en el Aeropuerto Jorge Chávez realizan una protesta ante la falta de respuestas de la empresa debido a las cancelaciones de sus vuelos.

Turkish Airlines comprará hasta 60 aviones a Boeing y Airbus

Turkish Airlines ha anunciado este viernes un acuerdo de compra de 60 aviones con los constructores Boeing y Airbus. La operación está valorada en unos U$S 18.000 millones de dólares, (14.100 millones de euros).

El pedido formulado por la compañía de Turquía está acordada con Airbus con 25 aviones A350-900 y opciones para cinco aparatos más. Boeing obtendría un pedido por 25 Boeing 787-9, con opción de adquirir cinco más. La compañía ha enmarcado los contratos en sus ambiciones de incremento de las operaciones desde su base en Estambul, capital de Turquía. Según la aerolínea, recibirá los primeros seis aviones en 2019, 14 en 2020, 10 en 2021, 12 en 2022, 11 en 2023 y los últimos siete en 2024.

Establecida en 1933 con una flota de cinco aviones, Turkish Airlines actualmente vuela más de 330 aviones, incluidos aviones de pasajeros y de carga a 300 destinos, 251 internacionales y 49 nacionales, en todo el mundo. El año pasado transportó a 68,6 millones de pasajeros con una tasa de ocupación de asientos del 79.1 por ciento.

HNA Group venderá Gategroup y recortará personal en medio de crisis de liquidez

El grupo de China HNA Group ha anunciado la venta de su filial suiza de catering y servicios Gategroup a través de una oferta pública inicial (IPO) en la bolsa de valores suiza.

Según los informes, el conglomerado chino planea despedir a 100.000 empleados, un cuarto de su fuerza de trabajo, Inteligencia Implicada por Eventos de Riesgo (REDD) ha informado, aunque esto no ha sido confirmado por HNA Group.

Ambas acciones son parte del impulso del conglomerado para mejorar su liquidez, ya que sobreestiró sus finanzas con una ola de adquisiciones de USD50 mil millones en los últimos dos años.

Se espera que la lista de Gategroup aumente U$S 370,5 millones de dólares. HNA Group está vendiendo hasta el 65% de las acciones de la compañía suiza y retendrá solo tres de los nueve puestos en la junta directiva de la compañía, renunciando por completo a su control de la unidad. Hasta la adquisición por parte de HNA Group en 2016, Gategroup había cotizado en la bolsa de valores suiza. HNA Group también está considerando cotizar su segunda filial suiza, la empresa de servicios de escala Swissport, para su venta.

Si bien HNA Group no divulga su información financiera públicamente, en enero el presidente del conglomerado, Chen Feng, admitió que enfrenta una crisis de liquidez. En noviembre de 2017, The Wall Street Journal informó que el conglomerado había acumulado un total de U$S 100.000 millones de dólares en deuda.

El saldo pendiente de HNA con China National Aviation Fuel Group (CNAF), un proveedor estatal de combustible caen un mercado casi monopólico en China, ha alcanzado U$S 474,4 millones. La deuda es asumida principalmente por Hainan Airlines Holding Co., una unidad del Grupo HNA que opera Hainan Airlines y una docena de otras aerolíneas en China.

Se informó que una de las formas estudiadas de liquidar la deuda con CNAF es un canje de activos que permitiría transferir las acciones del Aeropuerto de Haikou, en propiedad de HNA Group, al proveedor.

Por el momento, CNAF continúa suministrando combustible a las aerolíneas del Grupo HNA a pesar de las deudas, ya que dejar de hacerlo crearía una gran perturbación en el mercado de aviación chino. Sin embargo, South China Bluesky Aviation Oil Co., una filial de CNAF, ha exigido que la deuda se resuelva antes del 16 de marzo, informó Yicai Global.

In February, Tianjin Airlines (GS, Tianjin), another subsidiary of the HNA Group, secured a CNY 400 million injection from a Tianjin government entity and an existing shareholder, Tianjin Bonded Area Investment Co., while the HNA Group obtained a CNY20 billion credit line from CITIC Bank.

Norwegian Air Argentina presentó su primer avión Boeing 737-800

En el marco de la visita oficial del rey Harald V y la reina Sonia, el CEO global de la aerolínea, Bjørn Kjos, encabezó una ceremonia en el Aeropuerto Ezeiza para presentar el primer avión, un Boeing 737-800 de menos de un año de antigüedad para la línea aérea Norwegian Air Argentina.

Norwegian Air Argentina, la aerolínea de bajas tarifas, realizó el jueves 8 de Marzo 2018 una ceremonia para presentar de manera oficial el primer avión de su flota con matrícula argentina, con la presencia de los reyes noruegos, el rey Harald V y la reina Sonia, quienes llegaron a la Argentina por primera vez en visita oficial, acompañados por una delegación conformada por autoridades del gobierno y empresarios del país nórdico, entre los que se encontraba Bjørn Kjos, CEO del Grupo Norwegian.

La aeronave, un Boeing 737-800 con menos de un año de antigüedad y matrícula LV-HQH, había llegado al país a mediados de enero y tiene en su cola la imagen del músico Astor Piazzolla, como parte de una tradición de la compañía para homenajear a personalidades notables que hayan contribuido e inspirado a las sociedades de los países en que opera.

El acto contó además con la presencia del ministro de Comercio e Industria de Noruega, Torbjørn Røe Isaksen; el jefe de gabinete del Ministerio de Transporte argentino, Pedro Sorop; el embajador noruego en Buenos Aires, Jostein Leiro; la embajadora argentina en Oslo, Betina Fonseca; y el CEO de Norwegian Air Argentina, Ole Christian Melhus.

En su discurso, Bjørn Kjos se mostró entusiasmado por participar del actual proceso de desarrollo del mercado aeronáutico en el país: “Tenemos el claro objetivo de crear valor económico, del mismo modo que lo hicimos hace 15 años en Noruega, cuando comenzamos a volar. Argentina cumple perfectamente con nuestros planes de expansión, puesto que representa un enorme mercado con gente fabulosa y un magnífico potencial”.

Asimismo, agradeció a las autoridades por sus políticas orientadas al sector: “El Presidente Macri y su gobierno han estimulado la inversión extranjera. Creemos que están haciendo su mejor esfuerzo para dinamizar el sector aerocomercial en la Argentina, con el propósito de aumentar la conectividad para sus ciudadanos y alentar el desarrollo de más y nuevos negocios”.
