La aerolínea low cost Primera Air deja de volar tras declararse en quiebra

Primera Air, aerolínea de origen islandesa y capitalizada por los daneses, ha anunciado este lunes el cese de sus operaciones. La decisión responde a la falta de un acuerdo con su banco, motivo por el cual se ha visto obligada a declararse en bancarrota. Las operaciones concluirán este lunes a media noche.

Pasajeros han quedado varados en vuelos entre Londres a Estados Unidos que han conocido la bancarrota cuando estaban a punto de coger un vuelo de la aerolínea. Pasajeros que tenían vuelos desde el Aeropuerto Stansted y que estaban a punto de volar hacia Nueva York y Washington se han quedado el tierra, una situación que también están viviendo centenares de personas que intentan volver desde Estados Unidos hasta Europa.

La ultra low cost había lanzado recientemente nuevas rutas entre España y Norteamérica con la apertura prevista para Julio 2019 con tres conexiones desde Madrid a Nueva York (Newark), Boston y Toronto, con las que entraba a competir con Iberia, Air Europa, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines y Norwegian Air.

Primera Air es otra víctima más de líneas aéreas de bajo costo que atraviesan dificultades económicas y financieras. La aerolínea había anunciado a lo largo de estos dos últimos años sucesos desafortunados que habían afectado gravemente a su situación financiera, situación que la obligó a cerrar sus vuelos desde Birmingham, afectando la mayoría de las rutas hacia España.
