La próxima semana se inaugurará el Nuevo Aeropuerto de Estambul, que recibirá a 90 millones de pasajeros al año
El Istanbul New Airport (IATA: ISL/ICAO: LTFM) se inaugurará el próximo Lunes, 29 Octubre 2018 en el Distrito de Arnavutköy en el lado europeo de Turquía. El nuevo aeropuerto internacional de Turquía se inaugurará oficialmente sus las puertas como parte de la celebración del 95º aniversario de la proclamación de la República de Turquía. El primer vuelo será el TK2124 de la aerolínea Turkish Airlines (THY) que entrará en la historia como el primer avión en despegar desde la nueva aeroestación. El primer vuelo será el 31 Octubre 2018 y después la aerolínea de bandera turca realizará vuelos diarios internacionales a Azerbaiyán/Bakú y Chipre/Ercan y vuelos nacionales a Ankara, Antalya e Izmir, informó la aerolínea.

La aerolínea turca ha transportado más de 57 millones de pasajeros en vuelos nacionales e internacionales en los primeros nueve meses de 2018, anunció que el traslado a la nueva terminal será gradual. La idea es que el 31 Diciembre 2018, todas las operaciones se realicen desde el Aeropuerto Nuevo de Estambul (Istanbul New Airport).
El número total de pasajeros transportados por THY aumentó un 12% en 2018, mientras que la cantidad de pasajeros internacionales creció un 13% en los primeros nueve meses de 2018, reportaron directivos de la compañía. En el mismo período, la tasa de ocupación de asientos de la aerolínea aumentó en 3% a 82%.
