Políticos preocupados por la situación de Fiji Airways

El miembro de la oposición del Parlamento de la República de Fiji, Ro Filipe Tuisawau, ha pedido una investigación urgente sobre la adquisición de aviones por parte de Fiji Airways porque la viabilidad futura de la aerolínea “depende de una situación de filo de cuchillo”. Ha expresado que la necesidad de la investigación era urgente porque la aerolínea nacional posiblemente se enfrentaba a la liquidación o la quiebra, ya que es posible que no pueda reembolsar préstamos y realizar pagos de arrendamiento de aeronaves recientemente adquiridas y alquiladas. Ro Filipe dijo que como portavoz de la oposición en asuntos de industria y comercio, estaba presentando una moción que se presentará en la próxima sesión parlamentaria, del 31 Agosto al 4 Septiembre de 2020, para que el Parlamento establezca un Comité Especial, de conformidad con la Orden Permanente 129.

“Se informa que el director ejecutivo de Fiji Airways, Andre Viljoen, dijo que la aerolínea debe encontrar US$ 38 millones al mes para pagar los préstamos y arrendamientos de la nueva aeronave, y estos contratos son tan onerosos que no se pueden devolver. La viabilidad futura de nuestra aerolínea nacional, un activo estratégico ahora pende de una situación de filo de cuchillo y que se enfrenta a la bancarrota, porque la junta designada por el Gobierno de Bainimarama se ha extendido demasiado con ambiciosas y mal consideradas compras y arrendamientos de aeronaves, con el instando y completa aprobación del Ministro de Economía, Aviación Civil y el Viceprimer Ministro honorable Sayed-Khaiyum”.

Pidió a ambos lados de la Cámara que consideren urgentemente el interés nacional, por encima de su interés político de partido insignificante, y voten por su moción para una investigación.

“El Gobierno ahora se ha visto obligado a dar su garantía soberana, ya que la aerolínea es un activo estratégico y el pueblo de Fiji es el accionista mayoritario. Hubiera sido impensable antes del golpe de 2006 que nuestra aerolínea nacional entrara en bancarrota, pero desafortunadamente, ahora existe un riesgo real de que esto suceda”, expresó Ro Felipe.

It would have been unthinkable before the 2006 coup for our national airline to go bankrupt, but unfortunately, now there is a real risk of this happening”, said Ro Felipe.

A grand jury investigation, led by the District of Columbia Attorney’s office, is focusing on communication in early 2020 outside of the official hiring business. The contacts involve Doug Loverro, before he resigned as Head of NASA’s Human Exploration Programs in May 2020, and Jim Chilton, Senior Vice President of the Launch and Space Division of the aerospace company Boeing. According to The Boeing Company, Jim Chilton began his career at Boeing in 1984 as an engineer and took over in April 2018.

Impulsan conversión en Sociedad del Estado del Aeropuerto Rosario

El Diputado y ex-Ministro de Infraestructura y Transporte de la Provincia de Santa Fe, José Garibay, ha presentado un proyecto de Ley para dotar a la terminal aérea de más y mejores herramientas para su desarrollo. Con este fin, a la Cámara de Diputados ha ingresado un proyecto de Ley para convertir al Aeropuerto Internacional de Rosario/Islas Malvinas en una Sociedad del Estado. “Buscamos desarrollar una terminal aeroportuaria de escala, teniendo en cuenta el progreso económico, social y ambiental de la región”, afirmó José Garibay, autor de la iniciativa.

El legislador explicó que se trata de un proyecto que se impulsó desde el Ejecutivo durante la gestión del ex-Gobernador Miguel Lifschitz y que había perdido estado parlamentario. El propósito es cambiar su figura actual de Ente Autárquico Aeropuerto Internacional Rosario/Isla Malvinas por la de Aeropuerto Internacional Rosario- Islas Malvinas Sociedad del Estado. “Lo que ideamos es que el aeropuerto tenga un marco legal dinámico que le permita competir, sea eficaz, eficiente como también su modernización y desarrollo del servicio y de esta manera alcanzar los estándares y certificaciones internacionales del sector”, explicó el Diputado del Frente Progresista, Cívico y Social.

El proyecto contempla los derechos de los trabajadores del ente existente, asegurándoles las condiciones laborales adquiridas y potencia sus posibilidades de crecimiento, desarrollo y capacitación en el sector. La sociedad podrá administrar sus bienes y recursos financieros asignados por el Gobierno Provincial, teniendo también la posibilidad de adquirir bienes necesarios para su desarrollo como también créditos, acciones, títulos, derechos reales activos o pasivos y contraer obligaciones y erogaciones. En cuanto a la conducción del organismo, se prevé que sea a través de un Directorio, compuesto por siete integrantes ad honorem excepto su Presidente, designados por el Ejecutivo Provincial, municipios de Rosario y Funes, sector privado y por el gremio de trabajadores del sector. Se esteblecerá una comisión de seguimiento para el proceso de transformación que estará integrada por tres diputados provinciales y tres senadores provinciales que serán los encargados de monitorear que el proceso se lleve adelante dentro de lo acordado en esta ley. “De esta manera se busca potenciar y tener un aeropuerto de jerarquía internacional dotándolo de las herramientas necesarias para un desarrollo ordenado y sustentable”, concluyó José Garibay.

Regarding the management of the body, it is expected to be through a Board of Directors, made up of seven members ad honorem except its President, appointed by the Provincial Executive, Rosario and Funes municipalities, the private sector and by the workers’ union in the sector.
