Latam Airlines Group publicó resultados financieros 2Q2020
Latam Airlines Group ha anunciado la publicación de sus resultados financieros correspondientes al 2Q2020. Este Miércoles 19/08 Latam Airlines Group S.A. ha presentado al Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) de Estados Unidos los resultados correspondientes al primer semestre del 2020. Entre Abril y Junio 2020, el grupo aéreo sudamericano tuvo operaciones limitadas debido a las restricciones de viaje. También ha solicitado en este período el acogimiento al Capítulo 11 de la Ley de quiebras en los Estados Unidos el 26 Mayo 2020 para iniciar un proceso de reorganización.
Durante el segundo trimestre, LATAM tuvo ingresos totales de US$ 571,9 millones de Dólares, una disminución del 75,9%. El grupo de aerolíneas también registró una caída del 93,9% en los ingresos por pasajeros. No obstante, ha experimentado un aumento del 18,4% en los ingresos por carga, debido a la situación de pandemia que ha alentado este tipo de transporte. El grupo finalizó el segundo trimestre con más de US$ 1.400 millones de Dólares en efectivo y equivalentes de efectivo. También redujo su deuda financiera en US$ 803,6 millones. En total, el grupo tuvo un resultado negativo neto de US$ 890 millones de Dólares.
Acuerdo refinanciación
Como parte esencial de una reorganización del Capítulo 11 de la Ley de Quiebras, Latam Airlines Group ha podido aprobarse el acceso a diferentes medios de financiamiento. Actualmente ha asegurado compromisos por US$ 2.200 millones en Financiamiento de Deudores en Posesión, que se compone de una estructura de tres tramos. El tramo A, propuesto por Oaktree Capital Management LLC, busca recaudar US$ 1.300 millones de Dólares. El Tramo B apunta al financiamiento que los gobiernos pueden comprometer. La perspectiva para la compañía es poder recaudar US$ 750 millones y los gobiernos recibirán el pago por su inversión después del Capítulo 11. El Tramo C fue comprometido por Qatar Airways y algunas otras compañías como Delta Air Lines. Tiene un valor de US$ 1,15 mil millones de Dólares, estando sujeto a un período de retención mínimo de 15 meses.
Actualmente, el Distrito Sur de Nueva York está revisando el Financiamiento DIP. Sobre su reorganización del Capítulo 11 bajo la Ley de Quiebras la compañía Latam Airlines Group ha expresado: “El grupo está completamente enfocado en superar esta crisis y reestructurar el grupo para prosperar en un mundo post-COVID, haciendo de Latam un grupo de aerolíneas más ágil, resistente y sostenible a largo plazo”.
Fuerza laboral
Latam Airlines Group ha reducido un 30% de su plantilla laboral como primer medida para preservar la liquidez. Primeramente la empresa propuso una reducción salarial voluntaria del 25% para los ejecutivos y del 20% en general para Julio, Agosto y Septiembre 2020. Aproximadamente el 95% del total de empleados del grupo aceptó esta propuesta, dijo la aerolínea. No obstante, durante el segundo y tercer trimestre, Latam Group también disminuyó su plantilla en un 30%.
Aerolíneas del grupo
Los resultados del grupo aéreo más importante de Latinoamérica reflejan el daño colateral alcanzado producto de la pandemia actual. Latam Airlines Group poseía 342 aviones en 2019, aunque estaba operando con una estructura de personal por arriba del promedio de las aerolíneas en el mundo. La aerolínea se encuentra en proceso de reducción del tamaño de su flota. El grupo ha rechazado 23 contratos de arrendamiento de aeronaves y está en proceso de despedir nueve más.
Debido a la incertidumbre actual en América del Sur, Latam Airlines Group no ha podido operar en muchos países. Durante la mayor parte del segundo trimestre, Latam voló rutas nacionales solo en Chile y Brasil, aunque manteniendo las operaciones de carga en todo el mundo. El 15 Junio 2020 reinició sus vuelos en Ecuador y un mes después en Perú. Sin embargo, Colombia y Paraguay siguen cerrados y la aerolínea ha dejado de operar en la República Argentina. La filial de Argentina había solicitado hacia fines de Junio 2020 el Procedimiento Preventivo de Crisis (PPC). Los resultados económicos arrojaron durante los primeros seis meses del año U$S 164.225.000 millones de Dólares en pérdidas, generando más del doble que en el primer semestre de 2019.

Latam Airlines Group has announced the publication of its financial results for 2Q2020. This Wednesday 08/19 Latam Airlines Group S.A. has presented to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) the results for the first half of 2020. However, it has experienced an 18.4% increase in cargo revenues, due to the pandemic situation that has encouraged this type of transport. The group ended the second quarter with more than US$ 1.4 billion in cash and cash equivalents. It also reduced its financial debt by US$ 803.6 million. In total, the group had a net negative result of US$ 890 million.
Refinancing agreement
As an essential part of a reorganization of Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Law, Latam Airlines Group has been able to approve access to different means of financing. Currently, it has secured commitments for US$ 2,200 million in Financing of Debtors in Possession, which is made up of a three-tranche structure. Tranche A, proposed by Oaktree Capital Management LLC, seeks to raise US$ 1.3 billion. Tranche B targets financing that governments can commit. The prospect for the company is to be able to raise US$ 750 million and governments will receive payment for their investment after Chapter 11. Tranche C was compromised by Qatar Airways and some other companies such as Delta Air Lines. It has a value of US$ 1.15 billion dollars, being subject to a minimum retention period of 15 months.
Currently, the Southern District of New York is reviewing DIP Funding. On its reorganization of Chapter 11 under the Bankruptcy Law the company Latam Airlines Group has expressed: “The group is completely focused on overcoming this crisis and restructuring the group to prosper in a post-COVID world, making Latam a group of airlines more agile, resistant and sustainable in the long term”.
Labor force
Latam Airlines Group has reduced its workforce by 30% as a first measure to preserve liquidity. First, the company proposed a voluntary salary reduction of 25% for executives and 20% in general for July, August and September 2020. About 95% of the group’s total employees accepted this proposal, said the airline. However, during the second and third quarters, Latam Group also decreased its workforce by 30%.
