Memorando de Entendimiento acercaría compra de Arkia
El Al Airlines ha confirmado la firma de un Memorando de Entendimiento (MoU) no vinculante para comprar a su compatriota Arkia Airlines. La adquisición permitiría a Arkia convertirse en una subsidiaria de propiedad total de la aerolínea de bandera de Israel, con los accionistas de Arkia obteniendo una participación del 10% al 14% en El Al Airlines a través de acciones y opciones.
La sinergia de ambas aerolíneas permitiría beneficiarse de un modelo clásico y de ocio, además de la adquisición de las aeronaves narrowbodies Airbus A321LR de una antigüedad de tres años que Arkia introdujo. La aerolínea El Al Airlines también heredaría tres Embraer E195 (3), dos A330-900NEO (2) en orden, con opciones para dos adicionales. Por lo tanto, El Al tendría algunas nuevas adiciones del fabricante europeo Airbus y brasileño Embraer a la flota exclusiva de Boeing de la compañía israelita.
La unión de ambas aerolíneas permitiría ampliar la red de rutas aéreas de Arkia Airlines: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Batumi, Budapest, Dubai, Larnaca, Praga y Roma, destinos vacacionales clave, lo que permitirá reforzar los servicios a Europa y Asia.
El Al Airlines ha expresado en un comunicado el 03/02 referente a la adquisición de Arkia Airlines: «La compañía tiene el honor de anunciar que después de un informe inmediato con fecha del 18 de Octubre de 2021 (Número de Referencia 2021-01-157263), el 2 de Febrero de 2022, la Junta Directiva de la compañía aprobó un Memorando de Entendimiento no vinculante entre El Al Airlines y entre Arkia Israeli Airlines Ltd. y su accionista controlador Arkia Airways Holdings and Aviation Services Ltd. (Arkia Holdings), antes de firmar un acuerdo detallado para la adquisición de todas las acciones de Arkia a cambio de la asignación de los valores de la Compañía a los accionistas de Arkia. Arkia es una aerolínea israelí que opera vuelos nacionales e internacionales. Los principales accionistas de Arkia son Arkia y Tut Holdings Aviation and Tourism Workers Corporation Ltd».
El acuerdo tendría que ser aprobado por las autoridades de aviación de Israel, incluido el regulador de competencia de Israel y los sindicatos de las empresas.

Memorandum of Understanding would bring purchase of Arkia closer
El Al Airlines has confirmed the signing of a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to purchase its compatriot Arkia Airlines. The acquisition would allow Arkia to become a wholly owned subsidiary of Israel’s flag carrier, with Arkia shareholders getting a 10% to 14% stake in El Al Airlines through shares and options.
The synergy of both airlines would allow them to benefit from a classic and leisure model, in addition to the acquisition of the three-year-old Airbus A321LR narrowbodies that Arkia introduced. El Al Airlines would also inherit three Embraer E195s (3), two A330-900NEOs (2) on order, with options for an additional two. Thus, El Al would have some new additions from European manufacturer Airbus and Brazilian Embraer to the Israeli company’s Boeing-only fleet.
The union of both airlines would allow Arkia Airlines’ network of air routes to be expanded: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Batumi, Budapest, Dubai, Larnaca, Prague and Rome, key holiday destinations, which will strengthen services to Europe and Asia.

The deal would have to be approved by Israel’s aviation authorities, including Israel’s competition regulator and the companies’ unions.
