La compañía Chilean Airways con sede en Chile comenzará sus operaciones en los próximos días luego de realizar los Check correspondientes.
Para el inicio de sus operaciones comerciales de pasajeros y carga tiene matriculado un Boeing 737-200ADV con registro CC-CVI. Esta aeronave fue acondicionada y relizado su pintado exterior en las instalaciones del SAE en Cochabamba, Bolivia.
El Boeing 737-200ADV fue construido por la Boeing con número de serie SN22367 LN:706, perteneciendo a la versión Boeing 737-2Q3. Su primer vuelo operativo se realizó el01/10/1980. Fue configurado originalmente para Y120, utilizando dos motores PW JT8D-17.
La vida operativa del Boeing 737-200 NS:22367 comenzó con Southwest Airlines el 13 de noviembre de 1980, continuando con operadores como Japan Transocean, FSB, pasando luego por LANPerú, LAN Chile, LAN Express, Sky Airline y Aero Desierto el 1 de mayo de 2015. Su último operador es Chilean Airways que comenzará sus vuelos próximamente. La aeronave tiene a la fecha una antigüedad de 35.7 años.
Se realizaron los vuelos de prueba y aceptación, esperando que durante esta semana el avión sea trasladado a Iquique, ciudad que será la base de operaciones de Chilean Airways.
Chilean Airways es una nueva aerolínea radicada en la República de Chile, de propiedad del empresario José Bolívar, quien adquirió AeroDesierto S.A. (ADA) luego de que esta última fuera puesta en venta tras el cese de sus escasas operaciones en los meses de mayo y junio de 2015. Por el momento, la aerolínea utilizará el mismo Certificado de Operador Aéreo (AOC) de AeroDesierto, aprovechado también parte de sus recursos técnicos y humanos.
A diferencia de su antecesora, Chilean Airways propone una nueva estrategia comercial dentro de un enfoque que pretende desarrollar una conectividad aérea en el norte de Chile a nivel doméstico como internacional hacia países como Bolivia o Paraguay.
Una de las primeras medidas adoptadas por el nuevo dueño fue por ejemplo, el traslado de la base de operaciones y comercial de Calama a Iquique. Desde esta ciudad, se quiere desarrollar rutas de pasajeros y carga hacia distintos puntos de Chile, principalmente en el Norte Grande, mediante vuelos directos y sin escalas, evitando en la medida de lo posible, incurrir en costos adicionales que puedan complicar la operación.
Mientras tanto y como parte de las medidas adoptadas, la compañía alcanzó un acuerdo con ONE Airlines para prestarle servicios aéreos durante el periodo de mantenimiento del B737-300 que utiliza. Una decisión que se entiende como asertiva en el marco de búsqueda de oportunidades para la generación de ingresos necesarios que permitan solventar la primera y más difícil etapa de operación al mismo tiempo que se abre espacio en el complejo mercado aéreo chileno.
Chilean Airways es la última de las nuevas aerolíneas que se han creado en Chile y la única que lo ha hecho bajo un escenario altamente desafiante del considerando el contexto económico actual del país. En su propuesta, la aerolínea espera “proporcionar excelencia en el servicio de pasajeros, carga y correos con aeronaves de última generación, para poder cumplir con todas las exigencias de los viajeros regulares y turistas”. Su visión en la industria aérea nacional “es operar nacional e internacionalmente con una rentabilidad que influencie positivamente a sus socios y empleados”.
