La línea aérea de bandera opera desde 1950 gracias a un decreto del ex-presidente Juan Domingo Perón
Aerolíneas nació de la fusión de: Aeroposta Argentina, ALFA y ZONDA. El 7 de Diciembre de 1950, mediante el decreto anteriormente nombrado, del Presidente Perón. Al mismo tiempo, como la empresa no contaba con un aeropuerto importante para operar, el propio Perón hizo construir el de Ezeiza, que se inauguró en 1949 (anteriormente y ya planificando lo que vendría).
En 1951, y con tan solo un año de vida, Aerolíneas Argentinas fue nombrada como la mejor empresa aerocomercial del mundo, por la Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa. Lejos de imaginarse, claro, lo que sucedería en la nefasta década de los 90, donde Aerolíneas ni siquiera pertenecía ya a los argentinos.
Muchas cosas pasaron desde la creación de Aerolíneas Argentinas hasta nuestros días. Altas y bajas. Aciertos y errores. Desde la pujanza de los primeros años, a la casi desaparición de los años 90. Para una posterior puesta en valor durante la gestión Kirchner, que logró nacionalizarla y modernizarla al nivel de las mejores líneas aéreas del mundo. E incluso llegar a insertarse en la Alianza Sky Team, junto a otras enormes empresas del rubro.
Actualmente la empresa cuenta con 79 aeronaves, la mayoría de ultima generación, entre ellas: Airbus 330-200, 340-300, y Boeing 737-800 y 700. Sumados a los Embraer 190 que opera Austral Líneas Aéreas.
Mientras que para la mayoría de los gobiernos visionarios del mundo, como lo fue en ese entonces para Perón, un emprendimiento de este tipo no significa un “gasto” si no más bien una verdadera inversión y un valor agregado o de ganancia indirecta a través del turismo y el comercio, para otros, significa motivo de reducción del gasto.
A pesar de todo, hoy, Aerolíneas Argentinas continúa operando, y seguramente gracias al empuje del pueblo lo hará a futuro, atravesando viento y marea, y como siempre dijo su eslogan: “alta en el cielo”.
