La aerolínea mexicana Volaris Airlines compra 80 Airbus A320NEO
Volaris ha confirmado este martes una orden de compra de 80 aviones Airbus A320NEO en una inversión de U$S 9.300 millones de dólares hacia 2026. A precio de catálogo, estos pedidos representan un importe de 137.700 millones de dólares, mientras que Boeing sumó U$S 134.800 millones.
Esta es «la compra en firme de aviones más grande de la historia» de la aviación mexicana resaltó el CEO de Volaris, Enrique Beltranena, al participar en un evento público en la residencia presidencial mexicana. «El anuncio de inversión en 80 aviones Airbus por parte de Volaris por un total de 9.300 es muy importante», dijo el Ministro de Comunicaciones, Gerardo Ruiz.
El pedido de aviones Airbus A320NEO forma parte de un pedido récord de 430 aviones realizado en Noviembre 2017 por parte de Indigo Partners. Indigo Partners es una firma de capital privado que tiene una participación mayoritaria de Frontier Airlines de Estados Unidos y la chilena JetSmart, además de participaciones en la aerolínea mexicana de bajo costo Volaris y la aerolínea húngara de bajo costo Wizz Air, mientras se proyecta inversiones en Enerjet una nueva compañía canadiense de bajo costo.
El Presidente de Airbus América Latina, Rafael Alonso Guzmán estuvo presente remarcando que esta compra «forma parte del mayor pedido que jamás haya tenido Airbus en la historia: 430 aviones por un valor cercano a 50.000 millones de dólares realizado por Indigo Partners», fondo de inversión estadounidense y accionista de Volaris.
Volaris es una aerolínea de México, expandiendo sus servicios a Centroamérica, el Caribe y Estados Unidos. Cuenta actualmente con 71 aeronaves, recibirá los primeros 40 aviones entre 2018 y 2021 y los restantes entre 2022 y 2026, como parte de un acuerdo de adquisiciones de aeronaves del Grupo Indogo Partners de Estados Unidos.
Alonso Guzmán detalló que el A320 es «el modelo más nuevo y eficiente de la familia 320, incorpora las más nuevas tecnologías», entre ellas el bajo consumo de combustible.
El Presidente mexicano Enrique Peña Nieto resaltó que una vez que las aeronaves lleguen a México, se habrán generado 25.000 empleos, lo que duplicará los que actualmente tiene la aerolínea.
Expansión de Volaris
Volaris opera 96 vuelos nacionales y 78 internacionales en 40 aeropuertos mexicanos y 29 en el exterior. En 2017 ha transportado a más de 320.000 pasajeros y desde su fundación suma más de 80 millones.
El CEO de Volaris anunció además que el lunes se concretó una alianza con la estadounidense Frontier Airlines para volar bajo código compartido, acuerdo aún debe ser autorizada por autoridades aeronáuticas.
Código compartido Frontier-Volaris
Frontier Airlines y Volaris han firmado un acuerdo de código compartido, y las ventas comenzarán en los próximos meses.
El código compartido bidireccional, sujeto a la aprobación regulatoria, permitirá a las dos aerolíneas agregar 20 nuevos destinos, dice el presidente ejecutivo de Volaris, Enrique Beltranena. Se lanzarán 80 nuevas rutas entre los Estados Unidos y México. Las ventas de los vuelos de código compartido comenzarán en la primavera, dicen los dos operadores.
Las dos aerolíneas actualmente no se superponen en ninguna ruta. Ambas operadoras operan aeronaves de la familia Airbus A320, y recientemente aumentaron sus pedidos con un pedido de 430 aviones de la familia A320neo por Indigo que se reafirmó a fines de 2017. Frontier recibirá 100 A320NEO’s y 34 A321NEO’s, mientras que Volaris recibirá 46 A320NEO’s y 34 A321NEO’s.
La puja por el mercado
El fabricante europeo Airbus superó una vez más en 2017 a su gran rival Boeing en número de pedidos al recibir 1.109 contra 912 de la firma estadounidense. El Airbus A320 es uno de los aviones más vendidos en la historia de la aviación al superar los 7.000 pedidos de este modelo. Boeing superó a Airbus en aviones entregados, con un total de 763 contra 718, lo que supone sin embargo un récord para el fabricante europeo.

Volaris has confirmed on Tuesday a purchase order for 80 Airbus A320NEO aircraft in an investment of U$S 9,300 million dollars by 2026. At the catalog price, these orders represent an amount of U$S 137,700 million dollars, while Boeing added U$S 134,800 million.

AIRBUS A320NEO OF VOLARIS AIRLINES
The order for Airbus A320NEO aircraft is part of a record order of 430 aircraft made in November 2017 by Indigo Partners. Indigo Partners is a private equity firm that holds a majority stake in Frontier Airlines of the United States and Chile’s JetSmart, as well as holdings in low-cost Mexican airline Volaris and low-cost Hungarian airline Wizz Air, while investing in Enerjet a new Canadian company of low cost.
The President of Airbus América Latina, Rafael Alonso Guzmán, was present, noting that this purchase «is part of the largest order that Airbus has ever had in history: 430 aircraft worth nearly U$S 50,000 million made by Indigo Partners», fund of American investment and shareholder of Volaris.
Volaris is an airline in Mexico, expanding its services to Central America, the Caribbean and the United States. It currently has 71 aircraft, will receive the first 40 aircraft between 2018 and 2021 and the rest between 2022 and 2026, as part of an aircraft acquisitions agreement of the Indogo Partners Group of the United States.
Alonso Guzmán explained that the A320 is «the newest and most efficient model of the 320 family, incorporating the newest technologies», including low fuel consumption.
Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto stressed that once the aircraft arrive in Mexico, 25,000 jobs will have been generated, which will double what the airline currently has.
Volaris expansion
Volaris operates 96 domestic and 78 international flights at 40 Mexican airports and 29 abroad. In 2017, it has transported more than 320,000 passengers and since its founding has added more than 80 million.
The CEO of Volaris also announced that on Monday an alliance with the US Frontier Airlines to fly under shared code was finalized, an agreement must still be authorized by aeronautical authorities.
Codeshare Frontier-Volaris
Frontier Airlines and Volaris have signed a code-share agreement, and sales will begin in the coming months.
The bi-directional shared code, subject to regulatory approval, will allow the two airlines to add 20 new destinations, says Volaris CEO Enrique Beltranena. 80 new routes will be launched between the United States and Mexico. Sales of code-sharing flights will begin in the spring, say the two operators.
The two airlines currently do not overlap on any route. Both operators operate aircraft of the Airbus A320 family, and recently increased their orders with an order of 430 aircraft of the A320neo family by Indigo that was reaffirmed at the end of 2017. Frontier will receive 100 A320NEO’s and 34 A321NEO’s, while Volaris will receive 46 A320NEO’s and 34 A321NEO’s.
The bid for the market
The European manufacturer Airbus exceeded once again in 2017 its big rival Boeing in number of orders to receive 1,109 against 912 of the American firm.
