Copa Airlines buscará en México nuevos primeros oficiales

Copa Airlines celebrará el próximo 7 de Marzo una feria de empleo en Ciudad de México para buscar nuevos primeros oficiales (copilotos), informó este viernes la compañía. Fuentes de Copa dijeron que la feria de empleo se enmarca dentro de la estrategia de la aerolínea de incrementar su plantilla este año en un 18 por ciento con respecto al 2016. El evento, explicaron las mismas fuentes, se celebrará en un hotel de la capital mexicana y los interesados deben de ser mayores de 21 años, tener más de mil horas de vuelo en aeronaves de ala fija y licencia comercial con habilitaciones instrumento y multimotor, entre otros requisitos.

El presidente ejecutivo de Copa, Pedro Heilbron, anunció el pasado 29 de enero que la aerolínea tiene pensado crear a lo largo de este año 800 nuevas plazas de trabajo, de los cuales más de 130 serán pilotos. Copa Airlines empleó en 2016 y 2017 a un total de 8.953 y 9.204 personas, respectivamente, y espera llegar a los 10.052 trabajadores durante este año, apuntó entonces el directivo.

La compañía también aumentó la oferta de asientos hasta los 16,7 millones, un 9 por ciento más que en 2016. Copa Airlines, una de las más importantes de Latinoamérica y miembro desde 2012 de Star Alliance, transportó en 2017 a un total de 13,5 millones de personas, lo que representa un incremento del 7,1 por ciento con respecto al año interior.

Copa Airlines está considerada como la aerolínea más puntual de Latinoamérica por la consultora estadounidense FlightStats y la cuarta más puntual del mundo por la británica Official Airline Guide (OAG).

Copa Airlines interés en el MNA

Boeing había comunicado en la última Feria de Le Bourget Paris Air Show 2017, un avance de un nuevo avión comercial de rango medio conocido como el New Midsize Airplane (NMA) que tendría una sección de nariz y alas que se asemejan al 787 Dreamliner, aunque posiblemente con fuselaje más estrecho y con el que definió por primera vez como sección transversal híbrida. El NMA tendría capacidad para transportar entre 200 y 270 pasajeros con un alcance de 5 mil millas náuticas (9.260 kilómetros).De acuerdo con fuentes cercanas al proyecto, Boeing decidirá sobre el lanzamiento de este avión este año 2018.

La panameña Copa Airlines se convirtió en la primera aerolínea latinoamericana en demostrar interés en el New Midsize Airplane (NMA) de Boeing, aeronave que deberá ser presentada este año por el fabricante estadounidense. La información fue divulgada por el directivo de la aerolínea durante una entrevista con FlightGlobal.

Según Pedro Heilbron, CEO de Copa Holdings, que administra Copa y AeroRepública (Wingo), el interés de la panameña en el New Midsize es significativo, ya que la aerolínea siempre estuvo compuesta por fuselajes estrechos. Sin embargo, según él, un fuselaje ancho más eficiente en costos podría convencer a Copa a cambiar de ‘opinión’.

Para la aerolínea Copa Airlines, las actuales aeronaves de fuselaje ancha no tienen sentido en la visión del transportista, pero este nuevo avión, si ofrece un mayor alcance y es menos costoso y fácil de operar en comparación con los Airbus A330 o el Boeing 787. La nueva aeronave de la Boeing ofrecería mayor capacidad para sus actuales destinos de larga distancia desde Panamá como Buenos Aires y Los Ángeles.

La aerolínea panameña mostraría mucho interés en el nuevo desarrollo del MNA si el fabricante estadounidense puede proyectar una aeronave de cuerpo ancho que pueda ser tan competitiva en costos como el Boeing 737 MAX.

La actual flota de Copa Airlines está compuesta por Boeing 737-700/800 Next Generation y Embraer E190. El acuerdo firmado por la compañía mexicana y Boeing hace tres años estaba valorada en U$S 6.600 millones de dólares para la adquisición de 71 unidades del Boeing 737-8/9 MAX para modernización de su flota. Y en la última edición del Salón Aeronáutico de París 2017, ha convertido quince unidades de este pedido para la mayor variante, el Boeing 737-10 MAX.

Austral Líneas Aéreas enfrenta algunos obstáculos en la venta de los Embraer E190

El mercado de aviones comerciales de primera generación Embraer E190 están teniendo un rápido retroceso en las flotas de las líneas aéreas. Las nuevas variantes introducidas por Embraer de la familia «E2» anuncian una rápida renovación de flota.

Desprogramación de los E190

Air Canada anunció la desprogramación de su flota de aviones E190 para hacer espacio para el nuevo Bombardier CS300. Azul Linhas Aéreas está dando de baja comercial a sus E190 mientras espera el reemplazo de tecnología más avanzada del Embraer 195-E2.

El futuro de la flota de 26 Embraer 190-100AR de Austral Líneas Aéreas se enfrenta a un obstáculo, el modelo se está retirando rápidamente de las principales aerolíneas, por lo que el mercado de segunda mano pronto aumentará las ofertas para los E190, reduciendo las posibilidades de colocación de las aeronaves de la aerolínea regional argentina en el mercado global. Además la configuración de cabina de dos clases los hace poco atractivos para un modelo de operación de avión regional. El costo de una revisión de la cabina es un aspecto negativo en la competencia para un nuevo propietario.

Grupo Aerolíneas estaría maximizando los esfuerzos para poder colocar los aviones Embraers a un nuevo comprador. Tanto Airbus como Bombardier sería difícil aceptar los aviones en conceptos de pago para reemplazo de flota. Lo mismo puede decirse del acuerdo futuro en tre Boeing y Embraer.

Un beneficio que popdría jugar a favor de Embraer o Boeing son los costos de transición entre la desprogramación de una flota hacia otra nueva. El entrenamiento de la tripulación para el Embraer E195-E2 son cursos diferenciados mínimos para la calificación de tipo. Con una opción de Boeing, adquirir aviones 737 Next Generation significaría una flota regional homogénea para todo el Grupo Aerolíneas.

Austral Líneas Aéreas espera cerrar el trato en la primera mitad de este año y recibir 12 aviones de reemplazo para Diciembre 2018. Una vez que se firme el acuerdo, el Aerolíneas Aerolíneas iniciará el proceso de compra de nuevos aviones de radio extendido que conducirá a la elección de la futura flota de largo recorrido.

Aunque los Embraer E190 tienen un excelente historial de confiabilidad, Austral tendrá que impresionar al mercado con una excelente oferta para vendar los aviones para rutas domésticas.

Aeromar cambiaría su nombre como Avianca México

Avianca Holding tiene como objetivo ampliar su presencia en México. El pasado junio, Synergy Aerospace, que es propietario de Avianca, advirtió que la inversión con la que se haría del 49% de Aeromar está en riesgo, luego de detectar diversas trabas en materia de los contratos y la competitividad con que opera la línea aérea, lo que deja abierta la posibilidad de que no se concrete la operación estimada en U$S 100 millones de dólares.

“Encontramos una posible entrada a México a través de Aeromar, que es una empresa existente regional y que tiene lo más preciado que tiene México: slots para llegar a Ciudad de México. En este momento trabajamos en interlínea y con código compartido, y eso lo vamos a sacar pronto. Pero vamos a ver si podemos ir más allá, no sé si comprarlos, aliarnos o fusionarnos. La idea es convertir a esa empresa en Avianca México”, expresó Hernán Rincón, CEO de Avianca.

El director general de Aeromar, Andrés Fabre, aseguró que su aerolínea no se transformará en una aerolínea de bajo costo o de ultra bajo costo, sino que ofrecerá un servicio diferente.

Germán Efromovich, Presidente de Synergy Group y dueño de Avianca, dijo: “Tenemos la intención de invertir en una empresa con el talento, la experiencia y la reputación de Aeromar, con la tradición que mantiene, pero esta aerolínea no va a conseguir salir adelante si no es competitiva. Sus contratos y términos existentes deben estar por lo menos equiparados con los de la competencia”.
