Hawaiian Holdings, Inc. ha anunciado un acuerdo entre Hawaiian Airlines y la compañía de encomiendas líder del mundo Amazon.com, Inc. y sus subsidiarias para iniciar operaciones de transporte de carga y encomiendas bajo un acuerdo de disponibilidad de una flota inicial de diez aeronaves cargueras Airbus A330-300P2F (10) a partir del 3Q2023. Hawaiian Holdings, Inc. has announced an agreement between Hawaiian Airlines and the world’s leading parcel carrier Amazon.com, Inc. and its subsidiaries to begin cargo and parcel shipping operations under an initial fleet availability agreement of ten aircraft Airbus A330-300P2F freighters (10) from 3Q2023. Hawaiian Airlines will operate and maintain Amazon’s A330 Freighters under the airline’s operating certification based in Honolulu, Hawaii. Amazon Air has signed a firm agreement to lease ten A330-300P2F freighters from Altavair, leveraging the capacity and economics of the A330 to help deliver on its promise of overnight delivery to Amazon Prime customers. The aircraft will be operated for Amazon by Hawaiian Airlines, which has had the A330 as a key element of its fleet since 2010. Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (EFW), Airbus Passenger-to-Freighter center of excellence for passenger-to-freighter conversions (P2F), is converting all ten fuselages from passenger aircraft to freighters.

Featuring advanced Airbus technology including fly-by-wire flight controls, the A330 offers an extremely capable platform for freighter conversion. Since the entry into service of the A330 in 1994, more than 1,700 A330s have been ordered, with over 1,500 delivered, providing a large source of aircraft to support P2F conversions for many years. While both the A330-200 and A330-300 aircraft are eligible for conversion, the longer-fuselage A330-300P2F is particularly suitable for integrators and express carriers, due to its high volumetric payload capacity with lower density cargo. The A330P2F conversion programme, launched in 2012, is a collaboration between ST Aerospace, Airbus and their EFW joint venture.

Lanzan código compartido rutas entre Colombia e Italia

Avianca Airlines e ITA Airways anunciaron el Jueves 20/10 un acuerdo de Código Compartido, que permitirá a las personas viajar entre las ciudades colombianas de Bogotá, Cali y Medellín hacia Roma conectando a través de Londres o Miami con un solo boleto aéreo y en vuelos comercializados y operados conjuntamente por las aerolíneas.

Avianca detalló en un comunicado que el código operará a partir del 31 de Octubre de 2022 y que sus clientes “tendrán la posibilidad de conectar en doble vía entre Bogotá y Roma, uno de los destinos más populares de Europa, a través de Londres; a su vez, los clientes de la aerolínea italiana podrán viajar en ambos sentidos entre Bogotá, Cali, Medellín y Roma conectando en Miami”. El Director de Alianzas de Avianca, Julio Ordóñez, afirmó que la compañía sigue “impulsando la conectividad internacional y ofrece a sus clientes múltiples opciones de viaje para volar a su medida, y de manera sencilla y eficiente a los principales destinos del mundo. Con este acuerdo, esperamos transportar conjuntamente con ITA Airways cerca de 1.000 pasajeros adicionales entre Colombia y Roma, potenciando el turismo y los negocios entre ambos países. Aerolíneas Argentinas ha anunciado la incorporación de una frecuencia adicional a partir de Noviembre 2022, agregando un vuelo los días Viernes, permitiendo beneficiar el tráfico sobre el fin de semana. La novedad fue anunciada por el Ministro de Cultura, Turismo y Deporte de la Provincia de Catamarca, Argentina, Roberto Brunello tras ser notificada por la aerolínea. De esta manera, Catamarca contará desde el próximo mes con conectividad aérea los siete días de la semana, sumando nueve vuelos semanales (9Frq/S), con dos frecuencias diarias los días Martes y Jueves.

“Siempre es una buena noticia sumar conectividad aérea para Catamarca. Venimos gestionando esta ampliación de frecuencias porque es alta la demanda. La medida no solo favorecerá al turismo sino también a los distintos sectores económicos y empresas radicadas en la provincia que demandaban más conexiones aéreas”, manifestó Roberto Brunello.

El Aeropuerto de Catamarca/Felipe Varela/CTC ha alcanzado un buen número de frecuencias después del letargo abandono en la Región de Cuyo. Este incremento de frecuencias permitirá estimular el turismo y los negocios permitiendo conectar la provincia cuyana con el resto de Argentina.

Aerolíneas Argentinas has announced the incorporation of an additional frequency as of November 2022, adding a flight on Fridays, allowing traffic to benefit over the weekend. The novelty was announced by the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Sports of the Province of Catamarca, Argentina, Roberto Brunello after being notified by the airline. In this way, Catamarca will have air connectivity seven days a week from next month, adding nine weekly flights (9Frq/S), with two daily frequencies on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Doce pasajeros heridos debido a turbulencia severa

En el vuelo AR1133 de Aerolíneas Argentinas en la ruta Madrid/MAD—Buenos Aires/EZE ha sufrido turbulencia severa resultando doce pasajeros heridos de consideración. Después de cruzar el Océano Atlántico y llegar al espacio aéreo brasileño, el vuelo AR1133 se encontró con una turbulencia severa, lo que llevó a doce pasajeros a sufrir lesiones considerables. Algunos pasajeros fueron llevados al Hospital de Ezeiza para tratamiento y observación. El vuelo transportaba 271 pasajeros a bordo y 13 tripulantes en el Airbus A330-200 matrícula LV-FVH.

La turbulencia causada en la aeronave fue tan severa que algunos equipos de emergencia cayeron del techo y algunos paneles superiores se agrietaron. El vuelo AR1133 de Aerolíneas Argentinas despegó de Madrid el 18/10 a las 20:10 desde el Aeropuerto Madrid/Barajas/MAD y aterrizó en el Aeropuerto Ezeiza/EZE a las 04:30 de Buenos Aires, según muestran los servicios de rastreo de vuelos online. Según la empresa, el avión sufrió solo daños menores en equipamiento plástico interno de la cabina como resultado de los golpes de objetos sueltos y pasajeros contra el mobiliario, pero ninguna falla que afecte su capacidad de operación. El vuelo no sufrió ninguna clase de demora y aterrizó en Buenos Aires cerca de su horario previsto de arribo.
