Turismo extranjero recuperó casi nivel pre-pandemia
El 2021 hubo una mejora exponencial en la cantidad de visitantes de turismo extranjero y un incremento del gasto en la República Argentina. Las cifras oficiales muestran una recuperación casi total del turismo internacional en 2022, luego de dos años con movimiento restringido por causa de la pandemia del Covid-19. Según informó el Gobierno de Argentina en 2022 llegaron al país 7,4 millones de visitantes extranjeros, de los cuales 3,9 millones fueron turistas. Además, el gasto de los visitantes internacionales fue de US$ 3.400 millones, una cifra que supera la facturación del 2019, justo antes del inicio de la pandemia (US $3.176,9 millones). En los últimos cinco meses el nivel de recuperación con respecto al mismo período de 2019 promedió el 92%. Es decir que el país está a pocos puntos de recuperar el flujo de divisas que ingresaban por turismo internacional previo a la pandemia. La Organización Mundial de Turismo (OMT) calcula esa recuperación a nivel mundial recién para 2025.
La recuperación estuvo motorizada por el ingreso de turistas de Sudamérica y de Norteamérica. Se destacan Uruguay y Estados Unidos, que hace meses vienen superando los niveles de prepandemia. Brasil es el país que más turistas aportó con el 20,6% del total, seguido de Uruguay (19,7%), Chile (12,8%), Paraguay (10,3%), Estados Unidos (8,1%) y España (3,5%).
De acuerdo a un balance publicado por el Estado, el 44% de los turistas extranjeros ingresó al país por vía aérea, un 40% lo hizo por vía terrestre y un 16% por vía marítima. Los principales pasos fronterizos de acceso fueron Ezeiza (24%), Aeroparque (16%), Puerto de Buenos Aires (12%), Puente Tancredo Neves (8%). El 40% restante se divide entre los demás pasos fronterizos de Argentina.
Temporada 2023
El Ministerio de Turismo de la Nación tiene expectativas altas para los próximos meses. En concreto, se estima durante el verano 2023 llegarán al país alrededor de 1.750.000 turistas extranjeros, que generarían un gasto cercano a los US$ 1.370 millones. Voceros del Gobierno indicaron que el turismo receptivo durante el verano va a estar impulsado por una temporada de cruceros que tendrá niveles superiores a la prepandemia.
La Administración General de Puertos (AGP) señalaron que esperan recibir 127 recaladas y más de 400.000 turistas en el Puerto Buenos Aires, lo que implicaría números superiores a la temporada 2019.
El destino Puerto Madryn, Provincia de Chubut esperan 90.000 turistas en una temporada que será récord, con 47 recaladas. Al Puerto de Ushuaia llegarán 200.000 visitantes sobre la proyección de 540 recaladas, muy por encima de las 450 que hubo en prepandemia en Tierra del Fuego, Antártida e Islas del Atlántico Sur. En total se esperan 700 recaladas y 690.000 visitantes entre los Puerto de Buenos Aires, Puerto Madryn y Ushuaia.
Recuperación
El Ministro de Turismo y Deportes de la Nación, Matías Lammens, celebró que Argentina está terminando el 2022 con muy buenos niveles de recuperación del turismo internacional. “Para esta temporada de verano apostamos a recibir a más de un millón y medio de turistas extranjeros que van a significar un gran movimiento económico a lo largo y ancho del país. De la mano de las tres ediciones de PreViaje pusimos de pie el turismo interno con cifras que ya superan a la prepandemia. Este año la apuesta es recuperar las cifras de 2019 en materia de turismo internacional. Eso va a significar más divisas para el país y más empleo en todos los centros turísticos. Tenemos la convicción de que este año el turismo va a seguir siendo uno de los motores de la reactivación económica de la Argentina”, expresó Matías Lammens.

Foreign tourism almost recovered pre-pandemic level

Brazil is the country that contributed the most tourists with 20.6% of the total, followed by Uruguay (19.7%), Chile (12.8%), Paraguay (10.3%), the United States (8.1% ) and Spain (3.5%).
According to a balance published by the State, 44% of foreign tourists entered the country by air, 40% by land and 16% by sea. The main access border crossings were Ezeiza (24%), Aeroparque (16%), Port of Buenos Aires (12%), Tancredo Neves Bridge (8%). The remaining 40% is divided among the other border crossings of Argentina.
Season 2023
The Ministry of Tourism of the Nation has high expectations for the coming months. Specifically, it is estimated that around 1,750,000 foreign tourists will arrive in the country during the summer of 2023, which would generate spending close to US$ 1,370 million. Government spokesmen indicated that incoming tourism during the summer will be driven by a cruise season that will have levels higher than the pre-pandemic.

Recovery

Hand in hand with the three editions of PreViaje, we put domestic tourism on its feet with figures that already exceed the pre-pandemic. This year the bet is to recover the figures of 2019 in terms of international tourism. That will mean more foreign exchange for the country and more employment in all the tourist centers. We are convinced that this year tourism will continue to be one of the engines of Argentina’s economic revival», said Matías Lammens.
