Mejores flotas y mayor capacitación de tripulantes, entre los principales motivos
La lista de accidentes aéreos en los últimos años es extensa y se ha debido a múltiples causas que van desde las inclemencias del tiempo, negligencias humanas y en algunos casos hasta atentados, algo que genera dolor y sufrimiento por las víctimas y sus familias.
Sin ir más lejos, recientemente un avión de la aerolínea EgyptAir se estrelló con 66 personas a bordo cuando cubría el trayecto París-El Cairo. Por otra parte, uno de los más recordados de los últimos tiempos fue lo sucedido con el vuelo MH370 de la compañía Malaysia Airlines, desaparecido con más de 200 personas y con varias conjeturas que incluyen hasta el derribo con un misil.
Sin embargo, en cuanto a accidentes aéreos respecta, Latinoamérica recibió una bocanada de aire fresco, pues es considerada una de las dos regiones del mundo que redujo los accidentes aéreos en la última década.
La otra de las regiones que también tuvo un descenso en los accidentes aéreos fue la región Asia-Pacífico, que logró bajar de un año a otro estos números.
En cuanto a cifras, el número de accidentes medido en aviones perdidos por cada millón de vuelos pasó de 0.43 a 0.39 en Latinoamérica durante 2015. Además, esta cifra se mantiene por encima del promedio mundial de 0.32 en el mismo período, señala un reporte de CNN en Expansión.
Este dato surge de la reunión anual de la Asociación Internacional del Transporte Aéreo (IATA, por sus siglas en inglés) que se realizó entre el 1 y 3 de junio en Dublin (Irlanda).
Para justificar estos datos, el vicepresidente de IATA, Gilberto López Meyer, señaló durante su discurso que esta reducción de accidentes aéreos en la región se debe a una multitud de factores. “El primero ha sido la modernización de la flota. El promedio de antigüedad de aviones en Latinoamérica ha mejorado mucho en las aerolíneas mexicanas y latinoamericanas”, indicó.
Pero otra de las causas que incide y que se debe seguir trabajado para mejorar estas cifras tiene que ver con la constante capacitación de la tripulación, además de mejorar el proceso de selección, así como el manejo de la fatiga.
El más grave de los últimos años
Hay que remontarse al año 2007 para encontrar uno de los accidentes aéreos más graves en América Latina. Se trató del vuelo JJ3054 de la aerolínea brasileña TAM durante un viaje interno entre las ciudades de Porto Alegre y San Pablo.
En principio se había anunciado el fallecimiento de alrededor de 170 pasajeros más los miembros de la tripulación, pero con el transcurso de los días se confirmó que el número era superior a lo inicialmente informado.
La aeronave, un Airbus A320, había partido desde el estado de Porto Alegre y sufrió inconvenientes al momento del aterrizaje en el Aeropuerto Internacional de Congonhas (San Pablo) y se estrelló contra una gasolinera.
Según arrojó la investigación, al tocar suelo no desaceleró de forma normal, por lo cual siguió de largo y atravesó una avenida hasta estrellarse.
Se trató de una de las tragedias aéreas que más conmocionó al continente y rápidamente surgió el anhelo de prevenir lo máximo posible para evitar este tipo de accidentes. Por lo pronto, la región parece está cumpliendo el objetivo y las últimas cifras del IATA son más que auspiciosas.
