Norwegian es la segunda aerolínea del mundo en incorporar el nuevo Boeing 737 MAX y la primera en Europa

Norwegian se ha convertido en la primera aerolínea europea en incorporar el mejor avión de la familia de la línea 737, Boeing 737 MAX. Serán los primeros B-737 MAX en operar en los Estados Unidos.

En la mañana del 30 de junio de 2017, los dos primeros Boeing 737-8 MAX aterrizaron en el Aeropuerto de Oslo-Gardermoen y EI-FYB y EI-FYB para hacer entrega formal a la aerolínea noruega Norwegian, convirtiéndose en la primera aerolínea europea en recibir el Modelo y el segundo en el mundo después de Batik Air (Malasia), una aerolínea que ya ha recibido tres unidades del mismo modelo.

La aerolínea noruega tiene en encomienta unos 108 Boeing 737-8 MAX adicionales. Estas aeronaves serán utilizadas para vuelos transatlánticos operando non-stop las rutas entre Europa y la costa Este de Estados Unidos y con ellos operará en rutas entre ciudades de la costa este de Estados Unidos y Europa sustituyendo de esta manera a los Boeing 737-800 que operan las rutas entre Edimburgo, Reino Unido, a Providence y Newburgh, EE.UU. Recordemos que Norwegian deseaba inaugurar las rutas transatlánticas con los nuevos Boeing 737-8 MAX, debido al retraso en las entregas inició sus operaciones con los Boeing 737-800.

Bjørn Kjos, presidente de Norwegian hacomunicado que: “Hemos estado esperando ansiosamente la entrega de nuestros Boeing 737-8 MAX y estamos muy contentos de que se unan hoy a nuestra flota”. «El MAX 8 pavimentará el camino para un concepto totalmente nuevo». «Nos da la posibilidad de abrir rutas entre Europa y Estados Unidos sobre una base de tarifas totalmente nueva», hizo extensivo su comentario el CEO de Norwegian.

El mercado en expansión
Con el Boeing 737 MAX, las aerolíneas esperan poder volar las rutas transatlánticas cortas sin comprometer la capacidad de pasajeros o carga. Norwegian espera de esta manera aumentar las frecuencias desde Europa hacia los Estados Unidos.

Actualmente, Norwegian utiliza aeronaves más grandes para rutas transatlánticas de mercado mayor utilizando aeronaves Boeing 787 en sus rutas a Nueva York y Los Ángeles,donde los mercados más grandes demandan una aeronave de mayor capacidades.

Southwest, la primera que no fue
Southwest Airlines con sede en Texas, Estadios Unidos, había sido la aerolínea de lanzamiento del avión Boeing 737 MAX. La compañía americana ha tenido que posponer de las que serían las primeras entregas en el mundo de los Boeing 737-8 MAX, por una cuestión de regulaciones de normas estadounidenses.

La FAA regula el tema de las licencias de loss pilotos, no admitiendo que un mismo piloto esté certificado epara los Boeing de segunda generación (series 300, 400, 500) y la cuarta generación, los modernos MAX. De esta manera, los pilotos de Southwest Airlines consideran que si para la FAA el 737 MAX es un nuevo avión, hay que negociar su incorporación, es decir, nuevas tablas salariales para el modelo. Así, Southwest Airlines se vió obligada a negociar y reprogramar la incorporación de los más modernos aviones Boeing 737 MAX.

The expanding market
