La aerolínea de capitales americanos JetSmart Airlines cambia denominación social a Alas del Sur
Alas del Sur Líneas Aéreas ha pasado a denominarse JetSmart Argentina después de la adquisición por parte del grupo estadounidense Indigo Partners LLC. La toma de accionario de Alas del Sur permitirá desembarcar a JetSmart Airlines S.A. en el mercado aéreo de Argentina.
El Martes, 23 Julio 2018 fue publicado en el Boletín Oficial de Argentina que la empresa JetSmart Airlines fue autorizada para volar en Argentina y llevará el nombre de la línea aérea chilena. El cambio de razón social de Alas del Sur se aprobó en la Asamblea Extraordinaria de Accionistas de JetSmart celebrada el 18 Julio 2018 y consta en la publicación del boletín oficial.
Nuevo competidor en Argentina
JetSmart Airlines se ha introducido en el mercado aéreo argentino con la incorporación de la aerolínea Alas del Sur obteniendo los derechos de las 21 rutas y 36 destinos de cabotaje y 13 destinos en el exterior que le habían sido otorgadas en su momento a la empresa Alas del Sur por la Administración Nacional de Aviación Civil (ANAC). JetSmart solicitó “la facultad para alterar u omitir escalas” respecto de las citadas en los planes originales. El Gobierno de Argentina puso un límite a los derechos de rutas, especificando que en doce de esas rutas no se puede omitir o alterar el punto Córdoba.
Indigo Partners es un fondo que agrupa también a otras low cost, Volaris (México), Frontier Airlines (Estados Unidos) y Wizz Air (Hungría). JetSmart empezó a volar en Chile hace un año, y ha capturado más del 10% del mercado de Chile.
SmartJet Airlines se ha sumado a la «Revolución de los Aviones» en Argentina, permitiendo entrar un nuevo jugador en el mercado de las low cost, que competirá más directamente con las aerolíneas de bajo costo Flybondi Líneas Aéreas (en operaciones) y Norwegian Air Argentina. De esta manera, Argentina, continúa con su proceso de transformación del mercado aéreo, diversificando la oferta cada vez más competitiva.
