República de Nigeria emite alerta por ébola para aerolíneas
La Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) ordenó hoy a todas las aerolíneas que operan vuelos regionales e internacionales mantener un nivel elevado de vigilancia para evitar la llegada del virus del Ébola al país. Sam Adurogboye, Vocero de la Autoridad de Aviación Civil de Nigeria, confirmó la orden.
La Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) declaró el brote de ébola como una emergencia de salud pública de importancia internacional, luego del resurgimiento de la enfermedad por ébola en República Democrática del Congo. Esto concuerda con las reglas de salud internacionales. Adurogboye dijo que la orden fue enviada a todos los operadores de aerolíneas y agregó que estas deben refrescar los conocimientos de sus tripulantes para un manejo y una comunicaciones mejores con el control de tráfico aéreo sobre algún caso sospechoso de enfermedad contagiosa a bordo de un avión. También dijo que en caso de muerte de un paciente, las aerolíneas en operación deben ponerse en contacto con los servicios de salud de puerto para recibir autorización para importar restos humanos al país. Las aerolíneas deben informar a la NCAA sobre cualquier caso sospechoso de enfermedad contagiosa en cualquier vuelo.
Durante un brote de ébola en Nigeria en el 2014, varias personas murieron luego de que Patrick Sawyer, un liberiano-estadounidense, viajó de Liberia a Lagos en donde la infección se propagó. El virus del Ébola se transmite por contacto directo con sangre, secreciones y otros fluidos corporales u órganos de personas o animales infectados como chimpancés, gorilas, monos y antílopes y tiene un periodo de incubación de entre dos y 21 días. Las personas contagiadas presentan fiebre, debilidad extrema, dolor muscular, dolor de cabeza y dolor de garganta, además de vómito, diarrea, sarpullido y problemas renales y hepáticos. En los casos más severos, el virus conduce a hemorragias externas e internas.

Republic of Nigeria issues Ebola alert for airlines
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) today ordered all airlines operating regional and international flights to maintain a high level of surveillance to prevent the arrival of the Ebola virus into the country. Sam Adurogboye, a spokesman for the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, confirmed the order.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Ebola outbreak as a public health emergency of international importance, following the resurgence of Ebola disease in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This is consistent with international health rules. Adurogboye said the order was sent to all airline operators and added that they should refresh their crew’s knowledge for better handling and communications with air traffic control over a suspected case of contagious disease on board an aircraft. He also said that in the event of the death of a patient, operating airlines must contact the port health services to receive authorization to import human remains into the country. Airlines must inform the NCAA about any suspected case of contagious disease on any flight.
