El Aeropuerto Internacional El Palomar vuelve a estar en las noticias tras los reclamos de los vecinos de distintos puntos de la zona oeste del conurbano bonaerense. Ciudadanos del Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires (AMBA) se encuentran nuevamente solicitando la reapertura de la aeroestación low cost con la junta de firmas para pedir el restablecimiento de las operaciones del primer aeropuerto low cost latinoamericano que ha finalizado sus operaciones comerciales en Diciembre 2020.
Los renovados reclamos de los ciudadanos del área al Aeropuerto El Palomar agrupados en «Amigos del Aeropuerto» iniciaron una junta de firmas para reclamar a las autoridades correspondientes las propuestas presentadas y aprobadas durante la marcha realizada el 17 de Diciembre de 2020. Esta solicitud consiste en elevar los pedidos para abrir nuevamente la terminal de El Palomar a las compañías aéreas JetSmart Airlines argentina, Flybondi Líneas Aéreas y la empresa prestadora de servicios Acciona Airport Services, como así también, abrir las ofertas de rutas a otras líneas aéreas nacionales e internacionales. Otro reclamo está orientado a las franjas horarias para la aeroestación exigiendo ser un aeropuerto H24, sin exigencias de restricciones horarias. La solicitud de los reclamos también están orientados a reclamas la continuidad de las obras edilicias que han alcanzado un 70% de las tareas realizadas. Además, los reclamos también están orientados a solicitar un plan ambiental que incluya la forestación del campo de vuelo y las zonas vecinas. También el diseño e implementación de una reserva natural en el predio contiguo al aeropuerto.
También se opusieron a la afectación del predio del Aeropuerto que no guarde relación con la Defensa o el Transporte y «hacer saber al público que los vecinos de El Palomar quieren el funcionamiento del Aeropuerto. Se ha generado una confusión al respecto y venimos a ponerlo en claro como ya se hizo en la audiencia pública oficial del año 2018. El Palomar y sus vecinos quieren el Aeropuerto». Los vecinos han solicitado defender que los usuarios de todo el país viajen a bajo costo y declaren que el Aeropuerto El Palomar ha sido un éxito comercial, federal y principalmente social durante en estos años, pese a los obstáculos que se le han infligido.
La Ciudad de El Palomar nació como proyecto urbano en 1908, a partir de la instalación del campo de vuelo histórico, siendo un pueblo que ha nacido de la actividad estratégica de la aviación que impulsó el nacimiento de la ciudad, siendo la cuna de gran trascendencia de los aviadores. «Es la Cuna de las Alas Argentinas, y no se puede renunciar a ella ni invisibilizarse», declararon en el reclamo.
