Airbus Group, Safran, Dassault Aviation, ONERA y el Ministerio de Transporte de Francia están lanzando conjuntamente un estudio en vuelo, a finales de 2021, para analizar la compatibilidad del Combustible de Aviación Sostenible (SAF) sin mezclar con motores y sistemas de combustible de aeronaves de pasillo y comerciales, así como con motores de helicópteros. Airbus es responsable de caracterizar y analizar el impacto de las emisiones 100% SAF en tierra y en vuelo utilizando un avión de prueba A320neo propulsado por un motor CFM LEAP-1A. Safran se centrará en los estudios de compatibilidad relacionados con el sistema de combustible y la adaptación del motor para aviones comerciales y helicópteros y su optimización para varios tipos de combustibles 100% SAF. Además, este estudio respaldará los esfuerzos que se están llevando a cabo actualmente en Airbus y Safran para garantizar que el sector de la aviación esté listo para el despliegue y uso a gran escala de SAF como parte de una iniciativa más amplia para descarbonizar la industria. También contribuirá al objetivo final de lograr la certificación 100% SAF en aviones comerciales de pasillo único y la nueva generación de jets ejecutivos.
