Presidente Southwest Airlines se retira repentinamente
El Presidente de Southwest Airlines, Tom Nealon, quien una vez fue visto como un candidato principal para CEO pero fue pasado por alto este año, se ha retirado. Southwest ha comunicado el Lunes que Tom Nealon, de 60 años, seguirá sirviendo como asesor centrándose en temas ambientales, incluidos los planes para reducir las emisiones de carbono. Southwest Airlines President Tom Nealon, who was once seen as a top candidate for CEO but was passed over this year, has stepped down. Southwest announced Monday that Tom Nealon, 60, will continue to serve as an advisor focusing on environmental issues, including plans to reduce carbon emissions. In a statement released by the airline, Tom Nealon said he is honored to have served Southwest in various jobs, especially as president, and looks forward to taking on a strategic role.
The airline said that 59-year-old Chief Operating Officer Mike Van de Ven has become the new President. The company declined to make Tom Nealon available for comment. Tom Nealon was once the airline’s Chief Information Officer, but left and then rejoined Southwest in 2016 in a strategy role. In January 2017, he was promoted to president, a position previously held by CEO Gary Kelly. That, coupled with Kelly’s statement that he, Nealon, and Van de Ven would form a three-headed office of the CEO, sparked speculation that Nealon would eventually rise to the top job. In June 2021, the Dallas-based (TX) airline announced that Robert Jordan, a Southwest veteran who is currently Executive Vice President, will become CEO upon Gary Kelly’s retirement in February 2022. The CEO of Southwest Airlines has expressed this Monday 09/13 that the transition to Robert Jordan continues to progress very well and that officials who handle financial, legal and technological matters have started reporting to Robert Jordan rather than Gary Kelly or Tom Nealon.
