United cancela servicios al Aeropuerto New York/JFK

United Airlines ha venido anunciando la suspensión de sus servicios en el Aeropuerto New York/JFK por razones de que su horario actual en el JFK es demasiado pequeño para ser competitivos con las demás aerolíneas. La aerolínea informó que a finales de este mes estará suspendiendo temporalmente sus vuelos desde y hacia el Aeropuerto New York/JFK. La aerolínea dijo que el inicio de la temporada de invierno ha contribuido con su decisión de suspender, puesto es la época cuando más aerolíneas reanudan sus vuelos en dicho aeropuerto.

United informó que ha tenido conversaciones con la Administración Federal de Aviación (FAA), sobre la expansión de la presencia de la aerolínea en el aeropuerto JFK, donde los vuelos están estrictamente regulados. La agencia se comprometió a realizar mejoras, pero dichos cambios llevarían tiempo, según informó la compañía aérea con sede en Chicago.

“La importancia de JFK para nuestra operación no ha cambiado: creemos que los clientes de Nueva York merecen más opciones, y el sólido servicio de United a JFK es bueno para nuestros clientes, nuestros empleados y nuestra aerolínea. Como resultado, continuaremos nuestra búsqueda de un cronograma más grande y deseable para nuestros clientes y estaremos listos para aprovechar esas oportunidades cuando surjan”, dijo United Airlines a los medios de comunicación.

United ha estado negociando con la FAA para adquirir franjas horarias (slots/autorizaciones de despegue y aterrizaje) adicionales, en el JFK y abogando por que la agencia actualice su evaluación de la capacidad del aeropuerto. La aerolínea había reiniciado formalmente los vuelos desde el Aeropuerto JFK en 2021 después de una pausa de cinco años.

“La FAA se dedica a hacer su parte para expandir de manera segura los aeropuertos de la ciudad de Nueva York y la capacidad del espacio aéreo. Seguiremos nuestro proceso justo y bien establecido para otorgar futuras franjas horarias para aumentar la competencia entre las aerolíneas para que los pasajeros tengan más opciones”, dijo la agencia en un comunicado el Domingo 02/10.

United Airlines has been announcing the suspension of its services at New York/JFK Airport for reasons that its current hours at JFK are too small to be competitive with other airlines. The airline reported that at the end of this month it will be temporarily suspending its flights to and from New York/JFK Airport. The airline said that the start of the winter season has contributed to its decision to suspend, since it is the time when most airlines resume their flights at the airport.

United reported that it has been in talks with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) about expanding the airline’s presence at JFK airport, where flights are strictly regulated. The agency has promised to make improvements, but such changes would take time, according to the Chicago-based airline.

“JFK’s importance to our operation hasn’t changed: we believe New York customers deserve more choice, and United’s strong service to JFK is good for our customers, our employees and our airline. As a result, we will continue our pursuit of a larger and more desirable schedule for our customers and stand ready to take advantage of those opportunities when they arise”, United Airlines told the media.

United has been negotiating with the FAA to acquire additional slots (takeoff and landing clearances) at JFK and advocating that the agency update its assessment of the airport’s capacity. The airline had formally restarted flights from JFK Airport in 2021 after a five-year hiatus.

“The FAA is dedicated to doing its part to safely expand New York City’s airports and airspace capacity. We will follow our fair and well-established process for awarding future slots to increase competition between airlines so that passengers have more options”, the agency said in a statement on Sunday 02/10.
