Desprograma en medio de crisis económica compañía

La aerolínea colombiana Viva Air Colombia ha anunciado la devolución de dos aeronaves Airbus A320NEO en medio de la crisis económica de la compañía aérea low cost. El primero fue un A320NEO de número HK-5389 ‘Camila Blaney’ que partió de Rionegro hacia Tucson, Arizona (AZ), Estados Unidos, el 23/12. Cuatro días después partió una segunda aeronave del mismo tipo con matrícula HK-5378 ‘Go Pink’, esta vez desde Bogotá hacia Arizona. La aerolínea de presupuesto Viva Air Colombia declaró que “está empleando diversas estrategias para responder al panorama macroeconómico actual que tanto ha golpeado a la industria y todas las aerolíneas en general”.

La aerolínea, que inició sus operaciones en Colombia hace poco más de una década, está envuelta en una crisis financiera que ha causado preocupación por su posible liquidación. Ante esto, Avianca y Viva Air presentaron una solicitud de integración empresarial el 8 de Agosto de 2022. En respuesta, la Superindustria formuló un pliego de cargos contra Avianca, Fast Colombia y Viva Airlines Perú, por presuntamente, violar el régimen de libre competencia al haber materializado una integración empresarial sin autorización previa de la Aeronáutica Civil. Con esto, Avianca y Viva Air se exponen a multas de hasta 20% de su patrimonio y 20% de sus ingresos operacionales. La autoridad aeronáutico Aerocivil Colombia también rechazó la medida señalando que la unión representa riesgos para la competencia.

Tanto Avianca como Viva Air han insistido en que la integración es necesaria para salvar a la aerolínea. “Nosotros creemos que Viva requiere apoyo financiero; tenemos una visión global por sus acreedores, podemos imaginar que están en una situación crítica. Estamos hablando de 5 mil empleos directos, 22 aviones que están volando. Lo correcto para el país es permitir que Viva se salve”, declaró Adrián Neuhauser, CEO y Presidente de Avianca.

The Colombian airline Viva Air Colombia has announced the return of two Airbus A320NEO aircraft in the midst of the economic crisis of the low cost airline. Given this, Avianca and Viva Air submitted a business integration request on August 8, 2022. In response, the Superindustry formulated a charge sheet against Avianca, Fast Colombia and Viva Airlines Peru, for allegedly violating the free competition regime by having materialized a business integration without prior authorization from the Civil Aeronautics. With this, Avianca and Viva Air are exposed to fines of up to 20% of their assets and 20% of their operating income. Aeronautical authority Aerocivil Colombia also rejected the measure, saying the merger represents risks to competition.

Both Avianca and Viva Air have insisted that the integration is necessary to save the airline. “We believe that Viva requires financial support; we have a global vision of its creditors, we can imagine that they are in a critical situation. We are talking about 5,000 direct jobs, 22 planes that are flying. The right thing for the country is to allow Viva to hail”, declared Adrián Neuhauser, CEO and President of Avianca.
