Air Nostrum retoma fusión con aerolínea irlandesa CityJet

Los directivos de la aerolínea española regional Air Nostrum han enviado un nuevo expediente a las autoridades de competencia de Bruselas (CE) para dar la aprobación para la fusión con la compañía irlandesa CityJet. La compañía española se muestra confiada en conseguir una resolución positiva hacia Marzo 2023 para las aprobaciones gubernamentales de la Comunidad Europea (CE) para establecer la sinergia entre ambas líneas aéreas.

Air Nostrum ha alcanzado plena normalidad de su red de servicios, tras la crisis sanitaria mundial que han impactado en los viajes aéreos. Actualmente, fortalecida con la introducción como empresa filial para el mantenimiento en Europa de los ex-Bombardier CRJ, actual Mitsubishi CRJ, y proyecciones de planes hacia el futuro, la aerolínea avanza decididamente en retomar el proceso de fusión con la irlandesa CityJet, que fue abortado en 2020 por la llegada de la pandemia.

Los directivos de la franquiciada de Iberia han enviado un expediente renovado a las autoridades de la Comisión Europea de la Competencia para que analicen la viabilidad de la operación. Confían en que el resultado sea positivo, con visto bueno antes de que concluya el mes de Marzo 2023.

La intención de ambas partes es llevar a cabo una fusión algo diferente a lo que estamos acostumbrados. Pretenden formar una sociedad conjunta con participaciones de las dos aerolíneas, pero manteniendo las marcas. Con ello buscarán liderar el mercado aéreo regional, y no descartarían incorporar otras compañías independientes a la alianza en un futuro.

La aprobación de la fusión Air Nostrum-CityJet busca luz verde a una operación que fue aprobada en el año 2019, pero que ahora debe recibir un nuevo repaso por parte de la Comisión Europea al haber transcurrido cerca de cuatro años. No obstante, además de Competencia, deben superar el obstáculo de la SEPI, pues aún tiene pendiente de devolver los € 111 millones del rescate Estatal recibido en Mayo del año 2022. A este respecto, el Presidente de Air Nostrum, Carlos Bartomeu, confía en que no ponga trabas, pues este tipo de operaciones son las que expuso la empresas en su plan de viabilidad para avalar el espaldarazo económico.

El directivo Carlos Bartomeu avanzó que la aerolínea valenciana tendría la mayoría de capital en el nuevo holding resultante de la concentración. Sin embargo, la situación ahora es muy diferente, pues la pandemia ha dejado pérdidas millonarias en ambas partes.
