La temporada de ballenas arranca en junio en Chubut, con avistajes embarcados y hasta un paseo en el “Yellow Submarine”. Datos útiles y precios.

 

Primero, los guardaparques van a las escuelas de Puerto Madryn (Provincia de Chubut) y hablan con los chicos de 4° grado sobre los “Gigantes de Valdés”, estas criaturas inmensas, hermosas, que habitan las aguas calmas de los Golfos Nuevo y San José entre los meses de junio y diciembre de cada año. Después, los alumnos salen de excursión al Área Natural Protegida El Doradillo, a 15 kilómetros de la ciudad, donde pueden ver las ballenas en vivo y en directo, a pocos metros de la playa.

Ya comenzó la 13° edición de “Los chicos de Madryn reciben a las ballenas”, un programa educativo-turístico impulsado por la Secretaría de Turismo y Deporte de la Municipalidad de la ciudad chubutense, a través de la Dirección de Conservación. Gracias a este programa, más de 2000 chicos pueden experimentar el avistaje de costa de la ballena franca austral, una de las excursiones que atrae más turistas a nivel internacional en toda la Argentina.

El inicio de este programa coincide con los primeros avistajes de ballenas que se producen en la zona, siendo que la temporada arranca en junio y termina bien entrado el mes de diciembre. Además de verlas desde el muelle de Puerto Madryn o en la playa de El Doradillo, se las puede conocer bien de cerca con los avistajes embarcados en gomones o catamaranes que salen desde Puerto Pirámides; y hasta por debajo del agua, en los paseos que ofrece Yellow Submarine, un semisumergible único en el mundo, con ventanas para espiar a las gigantes por debajo de la línea de flotación.

Con la temporada de ballenas, la ciudad de Puerto Madryn empieza a prepararse para recibir a todas las familias que la eligen para pasar las vacaciones de invierno. En esos días,quienes viajen a Madryn podrán hacer todo tipo de avistajes de ballenas, hacer snorkeling con lobos marinos cachorros y visitar la colonia Punta Loma, recorrer el valle del Río Chubut y los pueblos galeses de la zona, y probar algunos de los platos de tierra y de mar que caracterizan a la gastronomía de Puerto Madryn.

CÓMO LLEGAR: Andes Líneas Aéreas ofrece vuelos regulares entre los aeropuertos de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires y Puerto Madryn, de lunes a viernes. Ida y vuelta, cuestan desde $ 3560 (www.andesonline.com).

INGRESOS: El costo del ingreso al Área Natural Protegida Península Valdés cuesta $ 110 para nacionales, y $ 260 para extranjeros. En excursión desde Puerto Madryn, la vuelta a la península cuesta aproximadamente $ 880, y $ 620 para menores.

BAJO EL AGUA. Las navegaciones en el Yellow Submarine salen de Puerto Pirámides y tienen un costo de $ 1780, y $ 890 para niños de 4 a 12 años, entre el 1 de julio y el 31 de agosto. Después, el precio asciende a $2300 y $ 1150, respectivamente (www.yellowsubmarinearg.com).

EMBARCADOS: Seis operadoras ofrecen los avistajes en gomones o catamaranes, con tripulación y guía, de una hora y media de duración. En temporada baja, el costo promedio de estas excursiones es de $ 890, y $ 450 para menores.

SOBRE PUERTO MADRYN. La ciudad está ubicada en la Costa Noroeste de la provincia de Chubut, a solo 100 kilómetros de Península Valdés, área natural protegida por UNESCO desde 1999. Se trata de una de las áreas biológicas más destacadas de la costa Patagónica, por la presencia de ballenas francas, elefantes y lobos marinos, pingüinos de Magallanes, delfines, orcas y otras tantas especies de fauna terrestre y flora. Algunos puntos turísticos cercanos son: la Isla de los Pájaros, Puerto Pirámides, Punta Delgada, Caleta Valdés y Punta Norte. «The dance of the Whales»
