Green Africa Airways anuncia un pedido a Boeing de 100 737-8 MAX

Green Africa Airways se prepara para comenzar sus operaciones comerciales ha solicitado una orden por 100 Boeing 737-8 MAX. El acuerdo total tiene un precio de lista de US$ 11.700 millones de dólares, el mayor acuerdo de aviones de África. Green Africa Airways, una aerolínea de valor con sede en Lagos, Nigeria, tiene como objetivo ofrecer viajes aéreos seguros, de calidad y asequibles y ser un importante contribuyente al desarrollo económico de Nigeria y el continente africano. La nueva aerolínea ha recibido su Licencia de Transporte Aéreo del gobierno nigeriano y está anclada por un grupo de altos líderes de la industria liderados por Tom Horton, ex Presidente y CEO de American Airlines, William Shaw, Fundador y ex CEO de VivaColombia y Virasb Vahidi, ex CCO de American Airlines.

Según Babawande Afolabi, fundador y CEO de Green Africa Airways, expresó: «Es un día histórico para la industria de la aviación nigeriana y africana. Este acuerdo histórico nos acerca mucho más a nuestro sueño de construir una aerolínea de clase mundial que abrirá un nuevo reino de posibilidades positivas para millones de clientes. En términos generales, este acuerdo es un símbolo audaz del dinamismo, la resistencia y el empuje empresarial de la próxima generación de nigerianos y africanos”.

La aerolínea planea inicialmente desarrollar el mercado nigeriano y luego construir una sólida red panafricana. Según las Perspectivas del Mercado Comercial de Boeing a 20 años, las aerolíneas en África necesitarán 1.190 nuevos aviones a medida que el continente impulse la conectividad tanto intracontinental como intercontinental en las próximas dos décadas.
