Entra en vigor prohibición del Gobierno de Estados Unidos a vuelos de sus líneas aéreas a ciudades cubanas

A partir de este 10 Diciembre 2019 entra en vigor la prohibición por el Gobierno de Estados Unidos de los vuelos de aerolíneas comerciales estadounidenses hacia el territorio cubano, excepto los que lleguen por el Aeropuerto Internacional José Martí. Esa decisión, que se une a la lista de restricciones adoptadas por el gobierno norteamericano para deshacer el acercamiento bilateral iniciado bajo la administración de Barack Obama, impedirá los viajes de compañías aéreas como American Airlines, JetBlue Airways y Delta Air Lines a otras provincias cubanas.

Un comunicado del Departamento de Estado refirió que la suspensión de vuelos «hasta nuevo aviso» busca impedir que el gobierno cubano «obtenga acceso a divisas de los viajeros estadounidenses», aunque también perjudica a miles de cubanoamericanos que visitan cada año a sus familiares en la isla.

El Día Internacional de los Derechos Humanos fue instituido en conmemoración al establecimiento ese día de la Declaración Universal de los Derechos Humanos, en 1948. La Asamblea General de la ONU proclamó dicha Declaración como ideal común por el que todos los pueblos y naciones deben esforzarse, a fin de que tanto individuos como instituciones, inspirándose constantemente en ella, promuevan, mediante la enseñanza y la educación, el respeto a estos derechos y libertades.

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, ministro cubano de Relaciones Exteriores, expresó hoy su rechazo a la prohibición de vuelos desde Estados Unidos hacia Cuba, excepto a La Habana, que entró en vigor este martes, justo cuando se celebra el Día Internacional de los Derechos Humanos. En su cuenta oficial en Twitter, el canciller cubano expresó que esta nueva medida de Washington, dictada el pasado 25 Octubre 2019, daña a los cubanos y sus vínculos familiares, pero también a los ciudadanos norteamericanos que no pueden viajar como turistas y conocer la mayor de las Antillas.

As of this December 10, 2019, the ban by the United States Government on flights of US commercial airlines into the Cuban territory, except those arriving by José Martí International Airport. That decision, which joins the list of restrictions adopted by the US government to undo the bilateral approach initiated under the administration of Barack Obama, will prevent travel by airlines such as American Airlines, JetBlue Airways and Delta Air Lines to other Cuban provinces.

A statement from the State Department said that the suspension of flights «until further notic» seeks to prevent the Cuban government «from accessing foreign currency from US travelers», although it also harms thousands of Cuban-Americans who visit their families every year in the island.

International Human Rights Day was instituted in commemoration of the establishment of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that day, in 1948. The UN General Assembly proclaimed that Declaration as a common ideal for which all peoples and nations should strive, so that both individuals and institutions, constantly inspired by it, promote, through teaching and education, respect for these rights and freedoms.

Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs, expressed today his rejection of the ban on flights from the United States to Cuba, except for Havana, which entered into force on Tuesday, just when International Human Rights Day is celebrated. In his official Twitter account, the Cuban Foreign Minister said that this new measure of Washington, issued last October 25, 2019, damages Cubans and their family ties, but also American citizens who cannot travel as tourists and know the greatest of the Antilles.
