NTSB de Estados Unidos ha emitido una alerta en los Embraer E175
La National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) ha emitido este Jueves 30/01 por la tarde una alerta a la Agencia Nacional de Aviación Civil (ANAC) de Brasil sobre el fracaso en un vuelo Embraer EMB-175 en el control de vuelo en Noviembre 2019, operado por Republic Airways.
La NTSB proporciona la siguiente información para instar a la Agencia Nacional de Aviación Civil de Brasil (ANAC) y la Administración Federal de Aviación (FAA) a tomar medidas sobre las recomendaciones de seguridad en este informe. Se derivan de los hallazgos preliminares de una investigación en curso de un incidente en el que la tripulación de vuelo de un Republic Airways Embraer EMB-175 informó de una dificultad de control de vuelo que involucra un cabeceo en la dirección de la nariz del avión poco después del despegue del Aeropuerto Internacional Hartsfield-Jackson de Atlanta (ATL), Atlanta, Georgia. Si bien la causa de las dificultades reportadas por esta tripulación de vuelo aún no se ha determinado, estas recomendaciones están destinadas a abordar los problemas de seguridad que hemos identificado durante la etapa inicial de la investigación.
La agencia estadounidense presentó seis recomendaciones de seguridad a ANAC y cuatro a la Administración Federal de Aviación de Estados Unidos (FAA). Las investigaciones preliminares informan un incidente en el que la tripulación tuvo dificultades para controlar el avión que despegó del Aeropuerto Internacional de Atlanta (ATL) en los Estados Unidos. El problema de control llevó a la tripulación a declarar una emergencia, ya que el avión ascendía a una inclinación más alta de lo normal. La tripulación intentó activar algunos mecanismos para solucionar el problema, a través del piloto automático, pero sin éxito. También según el informe, el documento muestra que dos miembros de la tripulación tuvieron que presionar el palo con ambas manos hacia abajo para recuperar el control del avión. El informe señala que, después del esfuerzo del piloto y la tripulación, lograron solucionar el problema y regresar al aeropuerto de manera segura unos 15 minutos después de declarar una emergencia.

«Aunque la causa de las dificultades reportadas por esta tripulación de vuelo aún no se ha determinado, estas recomendaciones apuntan a abordar los problemas de seguridad identificados durante la etapa inicial de la investigación», dijo la agencia NTSB en un informe. La posibilidad de que la falla reportada del avión Embraer pudiera paralizar a la compañía, como lo hizo con Boeing después de que dos modelos 737 MAX se estrellaran, matando a 346 personas, preocupaba a los inversores. El avión Embraer no tiene una tecnología similar a la de Boeing. Si hubiera un error similar en la capacidad de subir o bajar la nariz de la aeronave, la razón habría sido diferente.
Los analistas que acompañan a Embraer y las aerolíneas brasileñas, por otro lado, consideran que la falla que ocurrió en noviembre fue única. Algunos consideran que el incidente sólo ha ocurrido en un sólo avión, sin más detalles y que no podría ser comparado con los hechos en el Boeing 737 MAX. «Las primeras noticias tuvieron un impacto, pero al darse cuenta el mercado de que quizás el problema es el mantenimiento y no la tecnología, la caída es menor», agregó Luiz Roberto Monteiro, de Renascença.
En una nota, Embraer señaló que el informe de NTSB contenía recomendaciones de seguridad que están en línea con lo que la compañía ya había publicado a sus clientes en Diciembre 2019: “Estas recomendaciones implican hacer un cambio obligatorio en la palanca para evitar un ensamblaje invertido de la llave de mando, modificación que ya está incorporada en la línea de producción y disponible para su incorporación a la flota desde 2015”.

The National Transport Safety Board (NTSB) issued on Thursday 30/01 in the afternoon an alert to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) of Brazil about the failure of an Embraer EMB-175 flight in flight control in November 2019, operated by Republic Airways.
The NTSB provides the following information to urge the National Civil Aviation Agency of Brazil (ANAC) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to take action on the safety recommendations in this report. They are derived from preliminary findings from an ongoing investigation of an incident in which the flight crew of a Republic Airways Embraer EMB-175 reported a flight control difficulty involving a nod in the direction of the nose of the plane after takeoff from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), Atlanta, Georgia. While the cause of the difficulties reported by this flight crew has not yet been determined, these recommendations are intended to address the security problems that we have identified during the initial stage of the investigation.
The US agency presented six safety recommendations to ANAC and four to the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Preliminary investigations report an incident in which the crew had difficulty controlling the plane that took off from the Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in the United States. The control problem led the crew to declare an emergency since the plane was at a higher than normal inclination. The crew tried to activate some mechanisms to solve the problem, through the autopilot, but without success. Also according to the report, the document shows that two crew members had to press the stick with both hands down to regain control of the plane. The report notes that, after the effort of the pilot and the crew, they managed to solve the problem and return to the airport safely about 15 minutes after declaring an emergency.

The possibility that the reported failure of the Embraer plane could paralyze the company, as it did with Boeing after two 737 MAX models crashed, killing 346 people, worried investors. The Embraer plane does not have a technology similar to that of Boeing. If there was a similar error in the ability to raise or lower the nose of the aircraft, the reason would have been different.
The analysts that accompany Embraer and the Brazilian airlines, on the other hand, consider that the failure that occurred in November was unique. In a note, Embraer noted that the NTSB report contained safety recommendations that are in line with what the company had already published to its customers in December 2019: “These recommendations involve making a mandatory change in the lever to avoid an inverted assembly of the control key, modification that is already incorporated in the production line and available for incorporation into the fleet since 2015”.
