Acuerdo para polémica ampliación Aeropuerto Barcelona
El Gobierno de España ha arribado a un acuerdo con las autoridades locales aeroportuarias para invertir € 1.700 millones de Euros en la ampliación del Aeropuerto de Barcelona/El Prat y convertirlo así en un punto de conexión intercontinental, un polémico proyecto al que se oponen frontalmente los ecologistas. El plan de remodelación del segundo aeropuerto de España, por el que pasaron 52,7 millones de pasajeros en 2019, ha despertado mucha controversia por su proximidad a un espacio protegido en los humedales del Delta del Llobregat, localizado en el suroeste de Barcelona.
Las obras implicarían la construcción de una nueva terminal satélite y la ampliación de una de las tres pistas del aeropuerto de El Prat para reforzar las conexiones con el continente americano y asiático. “Es una muy buena noticia para Cataluña y diría también para el conjunto del país”, valoró este martes el Presidente del Gobierno español, Pedro Sánchez.
Antes, el Jefe del Ejecutivo regional catalán, Pere Aragonès, había asegurado que el proyecto respetará todas las exigencias ambientales de la Comisión Europea sin trampas, pero no precisó cómo podría evitarse dañar el preciado ecosistema de la zona. “Ambos Gobiernos saben que están aprobando un ataque medioambiental. Por eso insisten en resaltar las medidas de compensación”, criticó de su lado Adrián Fernández, de Greenpeace España. La ampliación, que debe superar todavía numerosas etapas, incluida la europea, debería estar lista en 2030, según estimaciones del ejecutivo central, que anunció también otra inversión de € 1.600 millones de Euros en el Aeropuerto de Madrid-Barajas.
La ampliación del Aeropuerto Barcelona/El Prat supondría la creación de 83.000 empleos directos y 365.000 en total en esta región de 7,8 millones de habitantes y de fuerte actividad turística, de acuerdo a datos del gobierno español. El primer adelanto sobre el acuerdo lo dio la víspera la ministra de Política Territorial, Isabel Rodríguez, tras el encuentro de la comisión bilateral con el gobierno catalán, que volvía a reunirse después de tres años para tratar asuntos de gestión. Esta reunión se ha considerado la antesala de la mesa de diálogo que retomarán el gobierno español y catalán en septiembre para tratar de resolver la mayor crisis vivida en el país en décadas, que alcanzó su clímax con la fallida declaración de independencia en 2017.

That is why they insist on highlighting the compensation measures”, criticized Adrián Fernández, from Greenpeace Spain. The expansion, which still has to overcome numerous stages, including the European one, should be ready in 2030, according to estimates by the central executive, which also announced another investment of € 1.6 billion in the Madrid-Barajas Airport.
