ITA Airways presenta su primer Airbus A220

ITA Airways ha presentado su primer Airbus A220, un avión que forma parte de la renovación de la flota de pasillo único de la aerolínea. La aerolínea italiana comenzará a operar el nuevo avión el 16 de Octubre de 2022 y tendrá otros tres aviones del modelo este mes. El avión A220-300, de matrícula EI-HHI, voló por primera vez en Julio 2022 y se suponía que iba a ser entregado a Azimuth Airlines de Rusia. El lessor Air Lease Corporation (ALC), su propietario, lo pasó a ITA en Septiembre 2022.

En la aerolínea de bandera italiana, el A220 recibió una librea con un fondo blanco y las palabras «Born To Be Susteinable», similar a uno de los A350-900 en servicio. Según ITA, el primer A220 entrará en servicio el día 16/10 para destinos como Roma, Milán, Génova, Turín, Nápoles, Ginebra, Zurich y Munich.

La flota de la aerolínea cuenta actualmente con A319 (18), A320 (33) y A330-200 (8) heredados de Alitalia, a la que reemplazó. La compañía también ha alquilado seis A350-900 (6) que operan rutas de largo radio como Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Tokio y São Paulo.

A finales de este mes se entregarán otros tres aviones Airbus, también pertenecientes a Air Lease Corporation. ITA Airways aún está a la espera del inicio de las entregas del pedido de 28 nuevos aviones cerrado con Airbus hace aproximadamente un año. ITA Airways has unveiled its first Airbus A220, an aircraft that is part of the airline’s single-aisle fleet renewal. The Italian airline will start operating the new plane on October 16 and will have another three planes of the model this month. The A220-300 aircraft, registration EI-HHI, first flew in July 2022 and was supposed to be delivered to Russia’s Azimuth Airlines. The lessor Air Lease Corporation (ALC), its owner, transferred it to ITA in September 2022.

On the Italian flag carrier, the A220 was given a livery with a white background and the words «Born To Be Sustainable», similar to one of the A350-900s in service. According to ITA, the first A220 will enter service on 10/16 for destinations such as Rome, Milan, Genoa, Turin, Naples, Geneva, Zurich and Munich.

The airline’s fleet currently includes A319s (18), A320s (33) and A330-200s (8) inherited from Alitalia, which it replaced. The company has also leased six A350-900s (6) operating long-haul routes such as Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Tokyo and São Paulo.

ITA Airways outlook

Three more Airbus aircraft, also belonging to Air Lease Corporation, will be delivered later this month. ITA Airways is still awaiting the start of deliveries of the 28 new aircraft order placed with Airbus about a year ago. This deal includes A330NEO (10), A320NEO (11) and A220 (7), including the lower capacity A220-100 version.
