SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhague Kastrup) pondrá en marcha vuelos entre Copenhague Kastrup y Vagar en las Islas Feroe principios del próximo año, poniendo fin al monopolio casi doce años Atlantic Airways (RC, Vagar) ha disfrutado de la ruta.

SAS dijo en un comunicado que ofrecerá vuelos ida y vuelta diarios entre ambas ciudades a partir del 27 de marzo de, 2017 usando una combinación de A319-100s y A320-200.

«Creemos que hay un mercado, y muchos de nuestros clientes han solicitado vuelos a las Islas Feroe. SAS es una empresa escandinava, que se basa en gran medida en el mercado escandinavo y doméstico, » dijo el Director de Operaciones (COO) de SAS, Lars Sandahl Sørensen. Añadió que SAS también está anticipando un número significativo de pasajeros en tránsito en la ruta que podría vincular a través de la red de SAS en Copenhague.

Atlantic Airways ha mantenido el monopolio de la ruta Vagar-Copenhague por casi doce años, con la excepción de un breve período en 2006. Se ejecuta actualmente la ruta doble diaria y que la capacidad del servicio cuando se introduce un recién adquirida A320-200 (SL) en la ruta a principios del año próximo. 

SAS to start Faroe Islands flights in 1Q2017

SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK, Copenhagen Kastrup) will launch flights between Copenhagen Kastrup and Vágar in the Faroe Islands early next year, marking an end to the almost twelve-year monopoly Atlantic Airways (RC, Vágar) has enjoyed on the route.

SAS said in a statement it will offer daily return flights between the two cities starting March 27, 2017 using a combination of A319-100s and A320-200s.

“We believe that there is a market, and many of our customers have requested flights to the Faroe Islands. SAS is a Scandinavian company, which relies heavily on the Scandinavian and domestic market,» SAS Chief Operating Officer (COO) Lars Sandahl Sørensen. He added that SAS is also anticipating a significant number of transfer passengers on the route which could link through the SAS network in Copenhagen.

Atlantic Airways has held a monopoly on the Vágar-Copenhagen route for almost twelve years, with exception to a brief period in 2006. It currently runs the route double-daily and will up capacity on the service when it introduces a newly acquired A320-200 (sl) on the route early next year. A\W
