La aerolínea chilena LAW Airlines está atravesando por un período de inestabilidad financiera
La aerolínea Latin American Wings (LAW) está mostrando señales de riesgo de colapsar debido a los problemas financieros, judiciales y operacionales que enfrenta tanto en Chile como en Perú.
Tras afrontar un período de fuerte competencia en la República de Chile por parte de aerolíneas low-cost, la compañía había decidido avandonar el mercado aéreo doméstico para centrarse en las rutas intermacionales en virtud de mejorar la rentabilidad, comenzó a mostrar falencias en principio en las rutas a la República Dominicana, luego enfrentó dificultades en Perú. la aerolínea mantiene una deuda con el operador del Aeropuerto Internacional Jorge Chávez, Lima Airport Partners (LAP).
La Dirección General de Aeronáutica Civil (DGAC) de Perú anunció la suspensión provisional del permiso de operaciones de LAW, debido a que no ha cumplido a la fecha con formular un programa de vuelos que asegure el cumplimiento normal de sus itinerarios. La suspensión rige desde ayer domingo 4 de marzo; sin embargo, a fin de que pueda cumplir con sus vuelos programados hasta el 15 de marzo (fecha hasta la cual vendieron pasajes), la DGAC le ha otorgado una licencia especial de vuelo, la misma que expirará al cumplirse con todos los itinerarios informados a la autoridad de transporte aéreo. Frente a esta turbulencia, la compañía estaría buscando traspasar a otro operador aéreo las 10 frecuencias semanales que opera en la ruta que une Santiago-Lima.
El próximo 9 de marzo la Junta de Aeronáutica Civil (JAC) de Chile licitará tres frecuencias justamente a Perú, lo que podría limitar la demanda y el precio de estos activos de LAW. “Otro asunto que limitaría el valor de las frecuencias es que, si una empresa no utiliza las frecuencias durante seis meses, estas vuelven a manos del Estado y se relicitan”, agregaron.
LAW Airlines tiene inscritos cinco aviones para operar en el mercado internacional desde Santiago. Uno de ellos está fuera de servicio, y de los cuatro aviones restantes, durante estos días su dueño inició el trámite para desmatricularizar uno de ellos, según confirma una alta fuente del sector.
En tanto, el Instituto Nacional de Defensa de la Competencia y de la Protección de la Propiedad Intelectual (Indecopi) indicó que continuará con la supervisión necesaria para que la mencionada aerolínea cumpla con trasladar al total de los pasajeros afectados.
