Swiss Skies la nueva low cost está tomando forma para vuelos transatlánticos
La nueva aerolínea de Suiza denominada provisionalmente Swiss Skies con su base operativa en Aeropuerto de Basilea (BSL). Swiss Skies, una aerolínea de bajo costo que pretende iniciar su start-up en 3Q2019, para lo cual el grupo de inversión desea conseguir US$ 100 millones en fondos iniciales.
La compañía, que se centrará en los destinos de América del Norte desde Basilea, Suiza, antes de expandirse a otras bases europeas, espera tener US$ 1.5 mil millones en ingresos dentro de cinco años y ser rentable en su tercer año.

El objetivo es contar con una flota de Airbus A321NEO LR de largo alcance. que sirvieran a 45 destinos en cinco continentes con el tiempo con una fuerza laboral de 1.900 empleados. “Nuestro objetivo es ser un verdadero disruptor de la industria de las aerolíneas. Muchos pasajeros de transferencia están cansados de tener que conectarse a través de grandes centros en Europa o Estados Unidos. Estos viajeros estarán encantados con los vuelos internacionales directos desde sus aeropuertos más cercanos sin congestión, reduciendo el tiempo de viaje en un 30 por ciento a un costo sustancialmente reducido y con mayor comodidad”, dijo el cofundador Alvaro Oliveira, un piloto suizo y ex-Director de Operaciones de vuelo de Azul Linhas Aéreas en Brasil.
El modelo de tarifa baja ha estado bajo presión, con compañías como Air Berlin y Monarch colapsándose el año pasado. Pero Oliveira dijo que había lagunas en el mercado que Swiss Skies podría llenar. Los medios suizos han dicho que una de las rutas de los transportistas podría ser entre Basilea y Cincinnati, vinculando compañías químicas y farmacéuticas en ambas ciudades.
